Map Cards for Lowrance GPS

the Lakemaster map is fantastic.......it has one foot contours. i've only looked at the paper map but my card is in my po box as we speak. besides the paper map and card they also have a CD so you can create your own maps, also there are 62 other ND lakes as well as SD lakes included. if you are interested email me as i'm set up as a dealer. I'll be in devils lake thursday thru sunday for the trap attack..... email address is rkresner@yahoo.com.

buster,
You are right,I've got Megellan... The last time I talked to John Woods he said they could'nt work a deal out with megellan, just Garmin and lowrance.

I sure like the lakemaster program, been using it for the last(3)years for MN and the Dak's,handy tool. For some reason the pro's like the Navionics card better, not sure why?I'll do some snooping.

I've got the CD for the Dakota's(lakemaster) as well but the maps are older but still useful to plan trips to new location's.Pretty cool to upload your way points from your computer to your gps.

Lakemaster does not have the mapcard for lowrance however. You need to go with "Navionics" again at most cablea's and scheel's or direct www.navionics.com.800-848-5896.Next day service.

Eyebuster, I would be very interested in an MMC card for Devils Lake, I would like to know what data is there first though, and how current the data is. Are there deapth contours, rockpiles, nav hazards? If you don't want to put it here E-mail me @ cahabbott@yahoo.com

Well here is more info, lakemaster has the most current data on DL,even navionics is out dated with the changes in water depth's,look at the pro pointer, they are really off.

The PWT guys use navionics because they sponsor them(free)and also because they cover so many different lakes across the country, not just the upper midwest(like lakemaster)So if a guy was serious about DL,not only for this weekend's attack but just in general get the map,the reel bottom run's around $20(PAPER) and the c/d is a guess but for the one's I've purchased they run $100 plus a mail in rebate or if you purchase a second "region's" map you'll get a discount as well.

Goodluck!

walleyewheeler,

I will forward your question to someone who can help. I suppose that is me now but being a little green with that sort of stuff I better ask before I screw something up in the admin! Thanks for your support and I think you will like the maps!

Hey walleyewheeler!
Hope things are well! sounds like things are heating up huh? Be safe.
Hey,this program can be bought for less money through a retail outlet,Reed's Sporting goods in Walker,MN for one,I'm sure cabela's and scheels will be competitive. The most effective way to use this program is to down load it on your comoputer,in fact I've got the programs on my PC at work and on my laptop for traveling.

What you do is plan/plot waypoints where you plan to fish on your PC,every place you put your cursor you get waypoint reading's on the lower left part of your screen, you can lock into a waypoint by placing a marker, input note's like water temp, time of day, what kind of bait used etc.

Then you upload your waypoints to your gps via USL cable. You don't need to fit the whole map into your gps,you just need to get a hand held unit with a USL capability and the units with added memory chips capabilities is a plus but more expensive so you make the call on how you plan to use your unit.

One more thing,if you have a laptop you hookup the gps to it(icefishing) and just like an LCD display on your boat you get real time travel as you head across the ice,you can watch yourself head to that little inside turn on the flat's or that sunken hump in the middle of nowhere.

Goodluck!

wheeler,
Contact lakemaster when you get back stateside via phone, they are very helpful and most often you talk directly to an engineer, might try their site as well, try "lakemap.com".I can down load region's (20 sq miles)to my megellan with a 64mb card and have not over loaded it,but you need to check with lakemaster to see how many MB's DL will chew up,must be alot because the map is in two section's.

If you do not connect with them, let me know I'll do what I can for ya from my end, this time of year they are slow and most often they are fishing : ),triing all the new stuff coming out.Next month (febuary) thing's heat up with all the sportshow's around.

Sorry guys I was in Devils lake fishing the trap attack.....I used my MMC card in my Lowrance ifinder pro and was super impressed with it....I would say that 99% of the locations that i drilled on were either right on as far as depth or within a foot.....I did find one spot that showed 12 foot contour and my vex read 8 foot, but it was in the trees so it might have been reading stumpage.... the map zooms in tight and the stucture is were the map says it is not 100 feet away as i've seen on some maps.....Like i said I'm super impressed and can't wait to get this thing in my X-15 this summer....anyone interested in ordering please email me at rkresner@yahoo.com and i'll email you back with a price......
I do have a couple navionics cards and this lakemaster blows them out of the water....
PS. the trap attack was a great time.....the bite was tough but my partner and I managed a 6th place finish....

Also,I'm from central MN but "Have Vex"will travel and over the years I have fished DL,great fishery foresure! The fishing in my area has been surperb but very cold, making ice at the rate of an 1" every night, sometimes 2"'s.

Anyway, goodluck and hope you have a safe return...

Hey Guys. I have been doing some research in to the lake master software and MMC cards. Turns out that if you want to see the contour lines on your GPS in the background you will have to go with the MMC Card. I checked out eyebusters card this past weekend on DL. Let me tell you that thing is awesome. Didn’t take me long to put my order into him for one.. Thanks eyebuster

ya, top 15 teams qualify for the championship next december. my partner and i had a little trouble. his 4 wheeler quit on the way out in the morning, I lost a fish in the hole at 12:30 and we had 10 fish in the bucket when we left our fishing spot and only weighed 9 fish....so one musta bounced out of the bucket in our mad dash to make it across the line before the 1:00 deadline. well all a guy can do now is laugh about it...... the trap attack was a great time and tough fishing or not we need to keep it coming back to DL

I bought the MMC card and let a buddy use it, he has his global map set up to use summer or winter. The chip is worth every bit of $100!! There are many spots that both he and I had as waypoints that are on the map as contour lines. Old water holes, rockpiles, large bushpiles, etc. There is so much cover out in the middle of nowhere, I think I could fish 10 summers and not cover them all. Like anything it is equipment, not a substitute for experience, however once you get a feel for what the fish are looking for, holding on, it does help narrow the search.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

Thinking of opurchasinf Lowrance Ifider Pro or H20 does the Lakmaster card work ok in this unit.
Also what is your opinion of the Lowrance Ifinder GPS units?

WALLEYSEEKER

I Have the I finder Pro and the Lake Master MMC Card of Devils Lake. The I finder Pro is a great unit. I have used many others at work like the Garmins map 76 and Magellans. There is no comparison when it comes to using the i finder on the lake and with the capability to use these MMC cards in that just makes it that much nicer. If you want to get your hands on one of these lake master cards get in touch with eyebuster.

Snow, I haven't been back to DL since. I'm headed to LOW this weekend. I've been pretty lazy about ice fishing this winter. I do however have the absolute worst case of spring fever ever!! I just can't wait to get back in the boat.
