Main Bay/Creel Bay - Sunday, January 17, 2010
Report Details
After a good couple days of fishing on Irvine and Morrison we decided to spend a night on Devils Lake just to say we did. We set up on the west point of Creel Bay and fished from 24-12 ft and had the house sitting in 17ft. We marked a couple fish with the vex but no go. Ended up catching 2 dinks on the rattle reels in the house. The Aquaview showed a bunch of crayfish on the bottom but nothing else. We had great luck chasing pike on Morrison (on the NW end of the lake in about 4-6ft of water with smelt) and ended up with a 3 man limit in about an hour and a half. The biggest pike was 10lbs and the smallest one kept was about 5lbs. We spent a couple days on Irvine on the north side of the lake by everyone else and did pretty good. I caught a FAT 13" perch and an 11" and saw another monster down the hole. Some smaller pike came through and we kept maybe 4 of them. Also ended up with maybe a dozen keeper eyes most about 16" long and one healthy 23" fish. Used minnows on plain hooks for the most part.

Re:Wall Eye, I would suggest Lake Irvine. We had way better luck there and everyone on Irvine seemed to be catching something. We caught eyes, perch, and pike. 40's-or-bust, I swear they were crawfish, there were a ton of freshwater shrimp around as well but we saw half a dozen or more crawfish around the camera constantly. They were crawling and swimming right in front of the camera so they would be pretty hard to misidentify. |
