Just curious if anyone is running the sirius module on there lowrance depthfinder.  I am considering adding it to my depthfinder for the weather radar function primarily and looking for some feedback.

does sirius even offer weather radio for this area? That would be cool. I have the HDS 5, but I don't utlize that portion of it. Let us know what you find out if you do use it.

i believe WSWAT got the HDS8 model and has done some research into this factor. I think it works for our area because he was dead set on getting it.

Yes it does work in this area.
You can have just weather radar or music with it. I think it would coat you about $50 for 3-4 months of service. Plus the price of the module. I am getting one for mine just havn't ordered it yet. But the last 3 times I have been fishing it would of been really nice.

I looked at getting the HDS8 but desided to wait another year so they can get the bugs out. How do you guys like these? How would you compair it to the 522c? Thanks for the feedback.

I love my HDS-8!!!!
But I have to say that you need to know your stuff when it comes to electronics. They built these things to do it all and are not for the guy who just wants to see the bottom.
They have great color screens with fast response times both on GPS and Locator and also a dream to use once you get there systems down pat.

So far I love the HDS 8.  No problem reading the bottom at full speed (60 MPH)  I could not do that with my old one.  Haven't had any problems with it yet

Sportfish,
Do you have your transducer on the inside of your boat or outside? Fiberglass or aluminium?
My friend but his buddys old Lowrance and wants me to help him install it. Just wondering if I can mount the transducer inside of an aluminium boat.
Thanks

as far as i know fiberglass boats are the only ones intended for putting the ducer on the inside.

I have the HDS-7, love the unit, hate Lowrance customer service...absolutely worthless.  I also have the 338c igps and the new unit (HDS-7) is in an entirely different zip code.  The GPS comes on instanly no signal loss no fuss no problem.  The screen is perfect and the detail is incredible.  I just can't wait for the Structure Scan to come out...s'posed to have an info release on the 15th and I hope it's on the shelves shortly after.

My uncles finder shit the bed on us this weekend.  I am looking at both a 522 or a HD series.  My question is when you have your split screen (chart/depth)  does it show your speed?  I like using my hand-held, but it is a pain to change pages to find my speed than switch back to the contours.
Thanks
Matt
