Lowrance HDS Units - Insight Mapping Software

Does anyone know anything about that software.  This is what I understand it to be.

Lake Insight™ inland mapping includes nearly 5,000 freshwater lake maps with lifelike perspective of bottom structure and topography. Coverage includes the Great Lakes and more than 500 Fishing HotSpots PRO® Lakes – a $400 value! Insight high-definition mapping delivers unprecedented detail with lightning-fast map and screen updates.

Question is, is that mapping really accurate?  As in surveyed?  If so, what company is doing it for them?  If this lake stuff isn't surveyed in what is it worth?  Sakakawea even included in it?

Currently Sakakawea and Oahe have shoreline data only, no depth contours.  I think you will see more lakes added in the future, that is definitely the industry trend to preload more mapping into these units.  The sonar companies are licensing data from the mapping companies.  I would think that Lowrance is choosing lakes they feel are very  popular with boaters and fisherman, but the Navionics North Premium HotMaps mapping chip has over 14,000 lakes in it alone (and it's only 1 of 5 Regions in N. America) vs. 5000 lakes with Insight mapping.  If the lakes you fish are included in Insight mapping, I'd say it's worth taking a look at it, Insight does have some pretty neat features.
