I don't have pics handy but I built a box with a lid for my flasher, etc.  Then, I built a cradle to hold the auger on top of the box.  I put a tie down over the top and ratchet it down, it's rock solid.  Simple, easy, effective.

I use heavy duty gun mounts on my front rack. Works pretty good but still have to be careful when going over rough country.

I have a terrible back.  Bought a gadget called AugerEasy.  Made by a guy up in the turtle mountains, St John I think.  Works absolutely wonderful.   It mounts on the 2 inch hitcvh of your ATV or pickup.  The auger clamps to it and it's like lka big drill press.   Punch a hole, move a bit, drill another one - can drill a lot of holes in 15 minutes and never lift the auger once!   Can use it with a post hole auger, too.
