Is any one aware of someone who breeds German Short hair and lab crosses?  I am looking for a puppy, male, black in color, for this spring say about march/april.  My last dog was a black lab that I believe was crossed with GS.  He was a great dog retrieved, pointed, flushed go all day no physical problems, great temperment and hated to listen but boy could he hunt.  Thanks for any information.

That's the breed of dog I hunted with for 12 yrs and enjoyed everyday with her.  She would hunt waterfowl all day and then coon hunt half the night and never seemed to slow down.  In the spring she would even retrieve breaver.  I never hunted pheasant with her till she was ten and she caught on to that fast also.  It was a sad day when I had to lay her to rest 17 yrs ago and I still miss her.

I hope you find the one you want because I think they make a great all round hunting buddy.

I have hunted with 2 different lab/shorthair crosses. One was a fair dog, never really great at anything. The other was completely worthless. Of course someone out there has had good luck with them but why don't you look for a pointing lab. They always retrieve. Pointing labs may not be as impressive as a pointer but they can point.
You should be able to find one without too much problem.
