Lodging around Lake Tschida

4 of us are bowhunting arond Lake Tschida in late October and need a place to stay.  Are there any cabins or houses for rent in the area, say within 25 miles.  Hotels would be OK but we would prefer a place to cook for ourselves.  Any other lodging options?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I have found is Stone Butte Ranch but I have had trouble getting ahold of them.  Anyone stay here before??

How many days are you hunting?  What are you hoping to pay?

We will be there about a week.  Looking at Oct. 25 - Nov. 1.  We are pretty open as far as price.

There's a motel in Elgin.  They also have some trailer houses located behind the motel.  We stay in them for the pheasant opener each year.  Works out nice.  Two bedrooms, bathroom, washer/dryer, kitchen facilities, living room, outdoor grill, and a porch area for dogs or whatever.  Price is reasonable too.  I believe their phone number is 701-584-2752.

Stone Butte Ranch is East and South of Elgin on the Cannonball river.  Gravel road south of highway 21 about 5 miles..   I can tell you I personally know the guy that runs that place and he was flooded this spring.   I'm sure he will be back on line by the fall however.    Glen Ullin has motel rooms also but I'm not sure of the name or number.   As was stated above, Elgin has a 10 room hotel right on Highway 21 and campers as well.   No cooking facilities I don't think in the hotel itself however.

If you are really up for a treat and may not want to put as many miles on as  you would running back and forth from Stone Butte Ranch, hunt down there on the Cannonball River.    Get in touch with its owner Allen R. and see if there are hunting opportunities down there.   Usually its posted pretty tight down there but bowhunting opportunities may exist and Allen would know.  He's lived there most of his life and would know all the landowners.  Very rustic setting along the hills of the cannonball.  Not sure what is available in the cabins as far as cooking, ect.   I think they have a website if you want to google it.    good luck.    Tell him the guy with the barbed wire scars on his leg sent you.   He'll know who I am.  I worked for him my senior year on his ranch back in '73; we had a little accident pulling barbed wire from one pasture to another one day!!
