Boy and I fished about 150yards to the east of the ramp, about 75y north of the shoreline. Ice is fair about 16" thick. I didn't feel comfortable driving my truck on the ice so we walked out. ( there were 3 vehicles on the ice though... a small car, a older 2wd toyota truck, and an F150).
I caught a 22" Northern after about 2 min of putting my line in. My boy caught a baby Northern after about 20min in the water. Had a few bites but that was all that was landed and released... used small jigs tipped with minnows. in about 15ft of water Still enjoyoed the day though... my first time on the ice this season, and spending time with my youngest boy (14yr old). Still better and a great day @ work! We may head out again today after I'm off work... |

Went out yesterday afternoon to take advantage of the nice weather. Fished in about 20 fow and with various ice fishing jigs and minnows. Caught 1 small northern and 1 nice perch. Ice was 12-15 inches. I didn't drive on it, but saw an F-150 drive on it to take his ice house off. Ice cracked a bit as he drove by so I'll wait another week.

Ice is about 14 inches. Won't be long before you can get a pickup out there. I fished for a couple hours this afternoon. One tiny perch is all we got.

Word of warning on Larimore.
There is 6" of ice in spots, but there are two large areas still open. There are about 600 geese out there. As for fishing, some dinky perch and a 10" eye. Bee safe if you venture out. |

Went out with some buddies the last day of April. Weather was really bad because it was a tad bit cold out with sporatic rain and eventually sleet which made us leave at 7 pm. I caught maybe a one pound northern off a spinner but we were mostly spoon and worm fishing. One of my buddies caught three tiny bullheads of worms but that is all.

Went out on Saturday with some buddies. One buddy was using worms and bobber and caught 3 tiny bullheads. But we mostly used spoons and spinners, I caught a small maybe 1 pound northern. Scenery was nice but the fishing was not so great. We ended up leaving early at 7 pm because it started sleeting hard on us!

Headed out at 3pm, got back around 6pm...not one bite. Used three poles...two had bobbers using a live minnow and worm respectively, third pole used a worm with a floating jig off the bottom. Never been there before...liked the scenery and location...Wind was a little much.

Exercise EXTREME CAUTION if trying to go out and fish. As stated in previous report, water level has dropped and they are still letting water through therefore there may be open pockets that would cause you to have a very,very bad day!!!!!
My thoughts, not worth it but to each is own! |
