I think the key thing in the article is that this was strange.  Anyone have any clarification on what instigated all the ruckus?

LAKOTA (AP) - Five members of a Nelson County farm family involved in a months-long standoff with authorities are in custody.

Authorities in northeast North Dakota arrested father Rodney Brossart and son Jacob without incident Sunday as the two finished harvesting a field, and Rodney Brossart's other adult children Abby, Alex and Thomas Brossart surrendered at the farm after several hours of negotiations. The five had arrest warrants for not appearing in court.

In June, the family was involved in a 16-hour armed standoff over the ownership of six cows that had wandered onto the Brossart property near Lakota. Authorities say the family members have ignored orders to appear in court on felony charges including terrorizing and resisting arrest. Authorities say they have been wary of the situation

Their neighbors cows wandered onto their property so they fenced them up and refused to give them back to the rightful owner.

Has never got along with his neighbors.  One of many disputes he has been in.

The brand inspector was the first on the scene to get the cattle back when two guys exited the house with deer rifles.  Since his .44 mag was no match for two rifles, he called for backup and retreated behind his vehicle.  Said he was pretty much scared sh!tless.  Can't blame him, seems a bit above his pay grade to be getting into a gun fight with a couple idiots.

Seems wierd that they let it go this long.  Why not just use a SWAT team to go in and get them right away and not let it linger for months?  I'm sure I don't know the whole story though.

Been fighting with neighbors boy cows getting out for some time. This time he fenced em in and wouldn't give em back. Cops showed up to get em. Standoff and additional charges came from standoff. Posted bond. Missed court dates. Warrants issued a while ago. Back in custody. They sound like they have some issues with laws and the authorities

Guess this is a great example of good fences make for good neighbors.  Never good to see stuff like this.  

We have a weird arse neighbor who can't seem to get along with anyone else either.

This is seriously the stupidest thing ever heard, if they have warrants go get them plain and simple , are the cops out there pussys or somthing, doesn't make any sense

swanson are you for real? if so please please do not procreate.  they should go in there and have another gordon kahl episode?  they did the right thing and got them when they were away from the house and home base with no incident.  there were little children in the house, i think they did the right thing in the end no one was hurt wife agreed to surrender also.

Enough busch light makes the goalies drop their pads every time!

I dont go around guessing cup sizes either I just know a nice rack when I see one.

Swanny they did get arrested the first day.  The two of them after a 16 hour stand off with lots of cops.  Point is they didn't show back up in court as instructed, warrant issued and they arrest them plus three more.  Don't blow off court dates I guess.........

yeah I know they blew off court, thats when the warrants are issued, thats when they should have been picked up, should not have to wait for them to come to terms with the fact they are being arrested. the same day the warrants were issued is the day they should have been brought in is all i am saying..


either way they are dumb and I am bored at work so any smart ass comment you can just disregard hahaha
