Three weeks ago, the road from the highway to Crappie Creek was OK for a full sized trucks. There were a couple bad drifts, but the road didn't get nasty until after you turned East towards the cabins. But at the time, we were even able to make it through that to our cabin. If you do make it to Crappie Creek, I doubt that you'll be able to find a spot to drive onto the ice.

I was thinking about going out to the lake and doing some ice fishing. Does anyone know how the roads are going into the Crappie Creak cabin area. Also has anyone had any luck?

Tried spearing twice in late december and the water was far too murky in Schulz's bay and by NL point. My dad tried angling while I speared and he had zero luck as well. Gizzard Shad came floating up into my spear hole non-stop! No wonder the fish aren't hungry! The ice is clear and strong back in those areas.

I was fishing at Heart Butte on the 27th and the 30th. There is alot of snow on the ice, which is about 18in thick. The water also seemed pretty murcky for this time of year; I would guess that there is less than 4ft. of visibility.
On both days we were fishing off of rocky edges in 15-35ft of water,with tip-ups and jigging with minnows... No bites. On the 28th, I saw two house fishing off the big island all day long. Maybe they were having luck, I wouldn't have fished all day if I wasn't. |

Haven't been out there yet, but it has been on my mind....Spending most of my time on Sweetbriar...Will probably try Tschida this weekend some time.....Would also appreciate any info on ice conditions

the weather ws certainly better than the fishing caught 2 fishover 16 a small mouth bass and a couple little cigars the ramps are not very good either but it was a nice day

The water was almost black....not dirty but dark. I think it's hard for any fish to see anything in it.
We thew everything at them and had only two hits that I would quantify as being walleyes. The Bullheads gobbled up everything from spinner baits, jigs to cranks.... Last years tourney was pretty much the same, very few fish caught and one big one won it. |
