Your tackle is not safe anywhere! I do like fishing northerns a lot but only with the lines intended for it. Most trips I have at least one tip up in shallow for pike but today I caught them in 10 fow, 30 fow, and a few places in between. Broke a few lines where they were able to bite through the line, oh well it's still fun. Anyway wasnt out long and didnt really have the time to get to where I wanted but was able to get to the ice and drive on as well, it's a little rough but it's possible.
