Anyone have a salmon report for lake sakakawea,I plan on fishing the weekend of 21st,23rd. of Aug.

Only out a short time due to the wind but no luck. Fished the mouth of Government Bay, marked a bunch of fish, had some chasers but no takers. Only 1 fish weighed in at our club outing and that was a 2.1 lb Rainbow Trout caught in the tailrace.

Fished the face of the dam on Sunday morning. From what we could see, we were the only boat out ther for the first 2 hours. Rained on us off and on. I was marking fish and bait all over in the 50 to 75 ft depth. Fished one rigger at 50 ft and one at 75 ft. Very slow. Got one to the boat and lost it on a green flasher and squid combo. It was probably only about 2 pounds. When we left there were about 10 boats fishing, all looked to have the same luck as us.

Went out, mostly to trouble shoot the new downriggers I just got. Fished south of Govt bay boat landing to the face of the dam in 100 ft of water. cannon balls were set at 65 ft and 40ft Plugs on the shallower one and flasher and squid on the deeper one. Not a bite in two hours.Talked to one guy who caught one small one on a blue flasher. Turns out I have a bad transducer on my Lowrance and that might cripple my "deep"water fishing for the year. |
