North Lake seems the best. There are several areas where points extend well into the lake for a little structure. Bear Island is certainly one of these spots. The G&F map for Lake Met is a good source for finding the areas with the sharpest drops or depth changes. Working the edge of the weedline in any of these spots can be productive. By the way, the G&F have been stocking walleye for several years in the Met. Hopefully we see a good result this year. Remember to keep this quiet though ;)

In open water i have found all my eyes around Bear island. There isn't much structure on the lake but there is some on the points of that island, it is also the biggest part of the lake. It seems like last summer though i would catch little dinky 10-12 inchers or an eye over 6 lbs so no keepers. But I think this year should be great because they will have grown wuite a bit. The north lake is the way to go good luck!

Just checking to see if the ice was out on Metigoshe yet. Itching to climb in the boat! Thanks! Where is the best spot for walleye? I have found the northern and the sunnies, but yet to see any walleye, any pointers? I usually fish the north lake.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there is driving access from the narrows to bear island or what the mobility is on the lake and the access to it? Or in other words what is the easiest way to get there. I have a cabin by the canadian border but was wondering if a person could even venture out from there because i plan on fishing it this weekend. Thanks!

Fished Sat from 10 am til 6pm, kept 3 northerns (biggest 6.5) and one decent gill. Saw bluegills on the camera, but they didn't seem interested. Every northern we seen on the camera bit. They would hang around for like 10 to 15 min. before they would hit. Had a blast pullin them pike up on a noodle rod and 4lb test w/a small genz worm and a minnow.

Fished north lake on saturday rotating between 10-15 feet and never even had a bite. Marked very few fish. Used really bad wax worms though, I'm sure that had something to do with it. Been up to that lake 3 times this winter and caught a total of 3 fish....all tiny perch.

Fished on North lake yesterday in 10 - 11 feet. Caught 20 -25 small perch, 2 big big bluegill, 1 crappie, and 1 walleye. Best lure was a gold Fat Boy with gulp. Got most fish on this setup and the gills came on the Fat Boy with waxies. Been getting my butt kicked lately on the ice. Was nice to catch some fish!
