Fished all over in bays with grren weeds..  Best bait was thunderstick junior in red chrome.  We probably caught aroudn 30 fish, 12 or so walleye up to 19" and the rest pike up to 34".  Good Luck to all this weekend, if the sun pokes out the bluegills should turn on!!

Worked hard to find fish but oh did they come.  Found big bluegills up to 10" in short weeds.  Caught about 50 of them, kept 8, then found a bunch of walleyee in fresh elodea, short green weeds, caught over 50 of them up to 16" on leeches, jigs and bobbers.  Also caught some pike up to 28" while fishing for others, water temps coming along.  Good Luck!

Nice to see someone else fishing the Dead Sea!!  We did go out two days after ice-out and caught two nice walleyes in 11 FOW but lost them both at the boat.  I think we were both surprised and also didn't have our summer hookset wrists in their proper alignment.  We have fished the sand flats, the weed edges and rocks and have only had those two hits.  Used live bait rigs both times out and haven't tried the cranks yet as I usually hook m up with them even in early spring with water so cold.  I've had luck in the past with them and am ready to try em soon.  Keep your line tight!!

Plenty of Pike yesterday, water temps to 58 at night, some short green weeds.  No panfish in shallows, couldnt find walleyes near any gravel.  Any ideas where the walleyes might be?  I checked by the narrows and numerous shoreline rubble without finding anything.

Experienced something I've never seen before on the lake this trip.  Was fishing for walleyes and put the camera down and could see maybe 3 feet.  The water looked like it had milk in it.  No floating debris or anything like that but very cloudy.  Does anyone know what this phenomenon is?  I emailed the NDGF and am waiting for an answer.  It has definately affected the fishing as the last 5-6 times out we have had no walleye hits and only small northerns.  Time to move?  Wait till snow starts to melt?  Quit fishing? Nah--hope somebody has an answer.  X their eyes!!!

The east side of McKay Island and more to north the weeds are to the bottom of the ice. Hope that helps you out. I'm sure that they will be dropping down soon and fish will be moving to deeper water.
