I hear the fishing in Ilo has been decent for northerns lately. Can anyone confirm?

Lake Ilo is on a National Wildlife Refuge. The lake was drained because the
carp, etc were eating the vegetation that the ducks and geese need to feed on. It was restocked with adult size perch and is suppose to be restocked with northern again. Fishing had nothing to do with the lake being drained. It's a National waterfowl resting area, and the Feds were concerned about the ducks and geese. In a couple of years, it will be a good northern lake again. |

Lake Ilo is on a National Wildlife Refuge. The lake was
drained to kill the the carp, etc that had been eating the vegetation that ducks and geese need to feed on. It had nothing to do with fishing, only improving the feeding of the waterfowl, because it is a National Refuge. It was restocked with adult size perch, and possibly northerns next year. It will not be stocked with walleye because the Feds don't believe the lake can handle walleye, which has been hotly contested for many years. In a couple of years, it will be back to basically a northern lake. It has put out some pretty good size fish over the years. |

to be clear it was restocked this spring with perch. they plan to let them go for around 2 years to get them esrlabished before stocking predator fish and then when they do so roumor has it there will be northlern and walleye. no walleyes before just snot rockets

The lake didn't "freeze out" last year. It was drained, and poisoned to kill off the undesirable species. Picked the right year to do it. It filled back up in the spring of 09, and I believe was restocked with northern pike, walleye, etc. I am guessing anything in there is going to be real small.
