Lake Darling - Sunday, December 11, 2011

kicked ass today by the bridge. caught fish all day long. limit of 5 to 7 lb northerns with a pile of dandy perch and a few small eyes. one nice one. 15 ft of water this lake never fails it always produces fish i love it. crazy mofos driving out there in full size pick ups though. 10 inches not enough for me to dive out i need more ice than that.

2 of the northerns had big frogs in them... perch had eggs and the eyes nothing frogs wtf shouldnt they be dead?

The frogs spend the winter on the bottom of the lake.  they lie there still, but every so often they give a kick or a wiggle and if a pike or a walleye spots it they're done for.

Lake darling is a great frog lake and in the early spring right before ice out the frogs move up into the shallow bays and wait for the thaw, the big walleyes are right behind them.  Late fall is another good time for the frog feed.  All the leopard frogs return to the lake from the fields to hibernate and the walleyes go crazy for 'em.

good to know i have hered about eyes and frogs but have never used them but how do u hook them. its frozen lake dont the frogs need air or warmer temps to survive
