Lake Darling - Saturday, August 29, 2009
The shore fishing at Darling is somewhat limited. There are 4 access points around the dam, Grano crossing and Green Crossing. I dont know how the fishing is right now because i havent been out since late june. All you have to do to find fish is find where the people are stacked up and there is a good chance the fish are there as well |

Lake Darling - Saturday, July 18, 2009
Launched out of landing 3 on Saturday night with a couple of buddies. Trolled the west end only about 700 yards north of the landing and back all night. Boated 10 walleye and 2 pike. Freezer is full so threw them all back. Was trolling the weed line in 10 FOW. Was using #7 perch shad rap. Trolling a little faster then all of the other boaters.

Lower End - Wednesday, July 15, 2009
I fished Darling on Wenesday and struck out. Marked a lot of fish but could not get them to bite. Launched out of landing there and worked the west shoreline to the bouys. I tried trolling cranks, and crawler harnesses both deep and shallow with no luck. The water temp was 64.0 to 64.3, wind out of the west at 15-20 mph.

Lower End - Monday, June 22, 2009
Finally got out on Lake Darling for the first time in 2 years. Just got the boat out of being serviced, so mainly went out to check everything out. Everything checked out fine, lots of water up there which is really good.
We trolled crankbaits from Landing 3 down to the boueys on the west side of the lake and followed the boueys across to the east side and back. Lots of floating grass and weeds from the high wind the day before on the east side, made trolling a pain so went back and worked the west side. Fished mostly in 12 - 14 ft of water in the cleanest (weed free) water we could find. Boated 7 nice walleyes, lost another and also got two northerns. Not too much boat traffic on the lower end, but it was a monday, only about a half dozen other boats out. I think the evening bite would have been much better. Fish are fat and healthy looking, and relatively easy to find. The lake is pretty clean. Access is very good at the new east ramp, landing 3, landing one is good if you don't need a dock to assist getting the boat in and out. The refuge people are working on getting a new dock for landing one. Haven't heard about the upper end of the lake in a while. Tight lines... b.... |

Lake Darling - Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Went up to Grano and caught 5 eyes and 1 pike between the two of us. Not real fast and furious and was tough cranking around the other boats. Fish caught were decent and we released a 24" to fight another day. An absolutely gorgeous night. Pulling cranks 7-9 feet. Shad raps again. The jointed craw had little effect tonight. Goldfish #7 seemed to work the best. Sounds like it's starting to slow a bit, but they're still biting.

Have been up to grano the last three nights tonight was a little rough and fishing was a little slower than it has been. Still able to put 10 keepers in the boat. Tues and Wed. were great lots of fish from 15 to 25 inchers. Spinners and minnows.

Lake Darling - Thursday, June 4, 2009
Been up there 4 times in last week. Most nights been able to scratch a limit of keepers or a couple short. All fish have come on raps #5 #7, Walleye divers, and salmos in 2-9ft. Casting and pulling have both worked it seems the later in the night the better. Good luck!

Lake Darling - Friday, May 29, 2009
Went to Grano, caught some eyes and really got into the snot rockets. Wind was absolutely horrible and water was super dirty by the bridge from the wave action. Not many people fishing today. Biggest eye was 21" but it was a plug.

Fished Grano on Saturday 5-23-09, three of us in the boat, fished from 5:00-9:30p, put 18 fish in the boat, 9 northerns, 9 walleyes, kept 6 of the walleyes. Let one 27.5” walleye go and two 15” walleye. Let all the northerns go. All caught on cranks. |
