Fished yesterday afternoon and evening - 32 feet of water - Had cameras down with lots of fish moving through - no takers whatsoever.  Just a heads up to everyone that has a permanent out there and may not have been around this weekend.  There's a quite a bit of water and slush on top right now - with the warm temps this week a person may want to make plans to either move or block up their house.  The cold weather shows up Saturday - my guess is there may be a few guys with houses iced down.  Noticed a few houses sitting in water already.

Anyone been doing good well after dark fishing shallow (3 to 8 fow) with tipups or even sleeping overnight in those depths.  Have done very good in the past after 10:00pm in those depth ranges but seems to me it's good one year and the next year setting shallow is a waste. Last year the shallow late night bite lasted all thru February.

Went out last night to try and catch the evening bite. I had heard that some guys were having pretty good catches in the evening. It was my first time on the Audubon this winter so I just looked for a cluster of homes in the Nelson Bay area and found an opening about a 100yds away from them. I was in about 17 FOW. Right at dusk I started marking fish and had 1 nice eater (18in), on the ice, just after dark. Marked lots of fish, but they were very finicky and just came in to inspect and left. Ended up with 3 walleyes (15, 16, 18 inches). Not very big but great for FISH TACOS!  All came on the same jig, which was a 1/4oz glowing whistler jig, tipped with a large minnow. Tried smaller jigs and smaller minnows, but they seemed to want the biggest minnows in the bucket. One northern bit me off too. Get out there and pop some holes, it'll make the winter go by faster.
