Lake Ashtabula - Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Report Details
I plan on fishing Bula some this year and have only been there once. Just wondering where to to start looking for smallmouths in this lake as I don't know my way around. I would be taking off from Katie olson's camp area and am just looking for some directions as to where

If you are looking for smallies on Ashtabula the best areas to fish would the face of the dam.  They are all over the rocks feeding on crayfish.

Katie Olsen's no longer has a ramp....the Dam is a great place...once the weedlines come in and the water temp goes up pretty much anywhere along the weedlines...I have found early morning is best when it's nice and calm...problem is I tend to sleep in on the weekends....I'm going to try and target some this weekend so  I'll give you a better report at a later date...PM me if you have any further questions.

I've caught a few mid summer where the Baldhill and Sheyenne channels meet (and slightly west).  This is a good place for white bass too.  Problem is keeping the bullheads off the line.  Also, try trolling a surface plug like a jitterbug over the weeds after dark.

Have a Crappie day!

Along the rocks near the dam. I caught some last weekend using a perch colored countdown and a black/silver jointed minnow. West of bayshore is an ok place to troll for them to.Pm me for any other ?s you have
If everyone focused on the important things in life the world would have a shortage of fishing poles.
