Dr. Deerhunter
Its not over fished! People just need to spread out. I know that people at Sundstroms are getting really packed in close together(mostly around my house). So it is time to start moving around and get away from the crowds if you can. I plan on going out this weekend. I will let you know how I do. |

DecoyVC,
Go ahead and eat the White Bass. Make sure that you get all of the pink/red flesh off of the skin side of the fillet and near the lateral line around the tail. The red meat is VERY fishy and strong flavored. Other than the pink meat they clean up like a crappie with huge ribs. |

Went out just north of katie olsens on the 18th last weekend. Havent been to the lake since the winter kill. Didnt see many fish on the electronics but managed one nice 15in walleye on a green jemini. Ice was solid 8-9 inches where we were. Didnt move...too cold with a 25mph wind, it was brisk to say the least. Couldnt tell you the ice conditions on the rest of the lake. It looked fine but there was no one else out that day.
Good luck! |

Was out at sundstroms landing last night and caught 5 walleyes, no keepers. I have been doing pretty good out there. Released a 26" walleye and have kept 10 keepers along with a half dozen pearch. Kind of getting slow because of all the activity. 8 trucks on the ice last night. Ice was 10" under my house but someone else told me it was 12-14". Still not thick enough for me to drive.

Silver bass is the local monicker for white bass (not rock bass)in the Ashtabula region. I've never heard them called silver bass anywhere else but around here.
Frozen2 - Your best bet is to try Sundstrom's landing for right now. There are a few crazies (that's right, you're crazy!!!) driving trucks on 8-10 inches of ice...I WOULD ADVISE YOU NOT TO FOLLOW SUIT. Perhaps by the weekend there will be enough to sneak around to other areas of the lake, but play it safe for now. As for me this year, the curse continues... Tally: 10 hours on the ice - one 8" perch, one 5" walleye |
