I am not sure why anyone would do this.  I undertand blood hounds have been breed for scent tracking, but I haven't ever been around a lab that couldn't track birds.  Agree, go to the pound and get an existing dog if you want to see the results of some of our bizarre breeding projects.

I hunted with a hound/lab mix once and was actually impressed by the dog. The dog was very good at tracking and pointing birds. However, the dog seemed to only work directly in front of the owner, whether or not that was a training issue I do not know. I should also point out the individual with this dog sent the dog away for yearly field training in MN.

We have  a black lab bloodhound mix and he is the SWEETEST dog in the whole world!  He weighs about 90 pounds and is mostly black with some white on his chest and feet.  We call him our gentle giant.  I have been trying to find another one.  If you decide to breed the two, I would LOVE to get another one!
