i am 100% sure, both my grandparents' families homesteaded around the Ray township, so i grew up fishing there. The Mclead reservoir is the litte lake in town, next to the park and building where they have the Grain Palace Days. I used to fish the mclead reservoir with my grandpa a little bit when i was a kid (only northerns) but we usually went to Mcgreggor. have fun down at the Kota!!!, i will be hitting it up this week, maybe wed night for bluegills on my fly rod, depending on the wind :(

I hope you are right but this is the list cut and pasted from ND game and fish web site. I saw Ray next to McLeod and thought it was Kota Ray. If this is not Kota Ray then that is great because I like catching and releasing the bass out of there.

Kota Ray Is NOT on the 09 winterkill list by the game and fish (http://gf.nd.gov/multimedia/news/2009/05/090508.html) maybee you are taliking about the mclead reservoir in ray... that is the slew next to the golf course, and it did freeze out, but kota ray is a different reservoir, and is not on the list. I seriously doubt it did have much if any winter kill, that lake has tons of weeds, and is pretty deep.

I heard Kota Ray had a fish kill. It is on the fish kill list on the ND fish and game website. I could be wrong but Id hate for you to fish it when there are not as many fish.

i havn't made it down there yet this year, but last spring at this time, i did really well there on my fly-pole just before dark for big bluegills and sunnies, with the occasional bass and trout mixed in. Not sure if you are into fly fishing or not, but an olive wollly bugger with a red tail always seems to work awesome there, i think there are lots of green round worms living in the weeds in that lake (in a month the only place you will be able to fish from shore there is off the dam, but that is where i usually fish). if you are not into fly fishing, i usually use some sort of a small spinner like a mepps of panther martin, or a jig and plastic grub, or a bare hook and part of a worm with a split shot.... most of the times, with the wom, the fish will strike as the worm falls down, so watch your line for the smallest nicks. i planned on making it down there sometime this coming week, so maybe i will have an accurate report

Went out on Kota-Ray on a boat two nights ago. No luck what so ever. There were a ton of fish jumping but no bites. Anyone having any luck here. If so, how are you fishing?
