Kicker Motor Controls

I'm looking for a way to rig my kicker motor (1982 Evinrude 15 horse tiller), to control the throttle from the drivers seat. I already have the steering linked to my big motor. I know that they make some tiller conversion kits, but not sure which one I need, or if I can rig up my own cable somehow.

If anyone has done this before, or has some insight and or tips, please let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

Take a look at Trollmaster.  I have never owened one, but from what I've seen they work.  I think $250 from a sporting good retailer will cover it.  You can select the throttle 1-10 and tweek the throttle speed.  I don't think it can put your boat in and out of gear, its just a throttle control.

HUNTNFISHND, better check with a service shop before buying a trollmaster, it might not work on a motor that old.

Ya look up trollmaster and give Bill a call.  He will help you out with all your questions.  Just got one put on my 9.9 on my 209 yarcraft.  Man do I love that thing.  Works great, I actually went ahead and bought the Pro 3 which has the remote if wanting to hook up a panther electric steering as well.  Which I would love to do, would make trolling so easy by yourself in the wind.  Check out his website or give him a call before ordering thru cabelas.  I ordered the wrong one right away but a quick call to Bill and he exchanged everything out.

Unfortunately I do not believe Trollmaster will be able to help out with that motor.  Your best bet is to find a set of controls (shift cables and box) that you can run up to your driver's seat location.  Give ebay try or check with some outbaord salvage/parts suppliers.  That is probably your best bet.

I think it will work.  On the application guide it shows for Johnson/Evinrude pre 2003 it has a model.  Just give Bill a call for sure.

Down side Tim, is working everyday.  Haven't fished a morning in quite sometime, got time off for the Casino Cup, so will be first mornings of fishing in a year.

archer,

Is your motor a 2 stroke or 4? The trollmaster site only says for 4 strokes, mines a 2 stroke.
