Obama has done it again. He is out to prove how dumb his naysayers are. Everyone thought he would have to say yes to thousands of jobs and better access to refineries for Bakken crude. Well sorry people Obama once again proves how stupid he and his staff are. He also wants to delay the decision until after the 2012 elections. Please wake up and vote this Jackwagon out of office. He has done enough harm!

I would like to hear Fishfaces reason to support this!

CNBC confirmed Wednesday the Obama administration will reject the TransCanada oil sands crude project.

After delaying the project past the November 2012 election, President Obama was compelled by Congress to decide by Feb. 21 on whether to approve the pipeline that would sharply boost the flow of oil from Canada's oil sands.

Should Obama reject the project, Senate Republicans have said they would look at a bill that would force the go-ahead so work could begin on the $7 billion pipeline, save for a portion going through Nebraska, where the state government continues work on an alternate route, said Ryan Bernstein, an energy adviser to North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven.

TransCanada's [TRP  40.93    -0.81  (-1.94%)   ] oil sands pipeline has put Obama in a political bind at the start of what is expected to be a difficult re-election campaign, and has become a useful tool for Republicans seeking to portray Obama as dithering on a project that they say would create 20,000 jobs.

If the pipeline is rejected, there are some publicly traded companies that will profit, according to Andrew Lipow of Lipow Oil Associates in Houston.

this is the best thing that could happen  WHY. now lets build 6 oil refineries and sell the finished product.  Build oe south of Williston One in the Garrison area they need enough water to cool them The end product can be shipped on rail they ship oil via rail    It is time to slow the oil producton down this is a mad house.  The oil is in storage now leave it there until the intrfastructure is built to handle it

They have been trying to get something rolling for new refineries for a long time. EPA red tape  has that door sealed tighter than a nuns undies.  I wish we could get a few new ones out here.

MIght as well have them ship the Canadian oil to China along with those 20,000 jobs. And maybe we can extend the unemployment to 299 months, or maybe we can just tax the rich more, and blame Bush.

It is time for the senators and the one represent form here to step up to the plate and get EPA buy the short hairs.  the refineries will create as many jobs as the pipeline.   If anyone thinks 20,000 jobs created wake up the pipeline crew (s) will do the whole thing.  they will subcontract to the same companies that are doing the finishing work on all of the pipelines they have buried in nw ND. Michells has 26 excavators sitting waiting for more work and they are covering the pipeline up as fast and they get it welded and x-rayed and seeding grass.
a billion dollar refinery would be capable of many bbls of refined product per day.

Hope&change....So are you president of Keystone?   If so you must be well versed in the total jobs that this will undoubtedbly create?  That seems to be somewhat fuzzy no matter where you attempt to look.  The jobs if they do occur would be nice but there are  just a few negatives as well.  Tar sands is a very dirty and corrosive type of oil  for starters.  Over 3X's as much co2 is generated in processing it as conventional oil.  The indiginous population isn't really jumping up and down either where this is occurring.  The communities down stream from the trailing ponds have abnormally high rates of cancers, renal failure and hyperthyroidism.  In Chipewayen a town of 1200 people over 100 have died of cancer.  The amount of water used to separate the oil is also 3/1.  If one looks back in 2010 a million gal of tar sand oil was spilled into the Kalamazoo river in Michigan in a pipeline run by another canadian corp.(Enbridge)
I know people in Nebraska have voiced negative opinions as this pipeline runs over the Ogallala aquifer which supplies water to over 2 million people.  With a course soil profile this could produce catastropic consequences in the case of a spill.  This pipeline will traverse 6 states , many aquifers  and also the Missouri, Yellowstone and Red river.  Yes, some jobs would be nice but it's really not all upside.

easy for you to say....tell that to the investors that have pumped in billions....I suppose they should just wait for their return until you deem it appropriate.

Nebraska has 1600 miles of pipeline carrying nat gas and oil. What the hell problem would one more cause. Smoking causes cancer. Lets make smoking illegal. Christ if you want to protect everybody from everything we will have what we have now a complete cluster+_+++. On top of that a pres that is clueless! What would happen if we have a train derail with 11 30000 gallon oil tankers that drive through Bismarck every day. Should this be stopped? Really ? get a clue!

Hopechangethis...  Yes,  I also feel someone should get a clue.  Our designations may be different however.  How much tar sand goo is pumped through and over the Og. Aquifer in Nebraska at present????  It's a little different critter then conventional crude in regard to corrosiveness, sp. gravity and end refining.
But don't listen to me.  Talk to someone that's strongly against this pipeline as it stands and has probably done a lot more research then me.  Talk to the "republican "govornor of Nebraska.  Hmmm,...he must be  one of those right wing liberals or is he just friends with Obama?

I guess every investor and oil company should check with you to see what is an acceptable "profit" for them to make.   Of course you know what is best for them and are the moral authority and final say on what kind of evil profit is too much.

When you say "lets build 6 oil refineries and sell the finished product."   Who are you suggesting should front the money for these projects?   You are pretty quick to say how others should spend their money at the same time not the least bit concerned on when and how much return they get from their investment.   Spoken like a true leftist.

what is acceptable profit how much in billions ?  is 50 billion in profit too much in a year is 30 billion too much you have to determine what is too much.  Look at what the higher prices have done to the working class in the rural usa. not the people inthe city who uses city transportation. their bill for riding goes up a dollar a week what about the truckers that fill the food stores or the farmers that produce the food the truckers haul.. They have to deal with it. and this pipeline is just used for export oil   Tell the people building a pipeline will  it create 20000 NEW jobs.  what is new the same crews are going to be used in the whole building process.  most of the grunt work is going tobe done by the transit workers kind of like when the circus comes to town and leaves they don't the cleanup crew with them

Oil companies can build but they will not. it is easier to sell bulk than finished product because of the investment. let someone invest make it on bulk and export the bulk.  I am a long way from a leftist. everyone needs a profit to stay in business I know I am in it for 28 yrs. so I know about profit and expenses in the good times and the bad times. HOW about YOU

The indians want a refinery to produce diesel who is funding that.  Maybe the government could quit with forgien funding and use that money tobecome energy independent  How does that fit  for financing
