Took my wife Sally and my dad out tonight to find some june berries.  Picked a patch for an hour and got maybe 3 quarts total.  Not an exceptional year but still a lot on the bush not ready. Another week or so.  Figured it would be a banner year with the late spring but I guess a late frost still got in.  If you are a fan of choke cherries they are thick on the bush but hard and green yet.  Buffalo berries I usually don't even look for until after the first hard frost. Have to set the sugars or they are worthless, but that goes with a lot of fall fruits.

They sure do make some great jam. As do the chokecherries too, they make even better chokecherry liquor after about a year!

Darn robins have been eating mine as fast as they ripen, just about down to the shriveled up ones now.

I assume 4yaks is talking about the Stanley area, I would expect that neck of the woods to be a little behind us here in Bismarck.

been picking in the stanley area for 2 weeks. He might be picking right behind me, that's why he's not finding any. If memory serves me, 4yaks is in the white earth area. He would do good to check the dam.
