We were out on sat and sunday in 15-20 ft of water. Caught alot of fish. Most in the 16 inch range but managed a 4.5 lb'r about 20 minutes before sundown. Suprisingly no snot rockets.
Most of the fish taken on dead sticks with the larger fish being caught about 3 inches off the bottom. We fishd off the south end of the island... got away from the crowds. We caught 15 crappies also, they came on glow-jigs. Missed several fish, but the kids were plenty busy. ANyone heard about the crappies up at smokies? We are headed out again tomorrow...going to ahve to fake a little sickness while the fish are biting!! |

Fished 1-5-06, The ice is good, fishing could be better. Marked lots of fish, not many takers. Ice measured 14 inches. Anyone finding the crappies, please advise.

Fished Jamestown Res Monday the 4th. Fished south of the island in about 16 ft of water. Couldnt keep a line in the water for over an hour. Caught 25 walleyes. Three were keepers, one 14 inches and the other two 15-17 inchers. Used minnows with blue, yellow, and orange jigs through out the day. went back on the 5th, same spot, same jigs, one fish. Very hit and miss.

I got the day off on wed. and was thinkin about going to the res. How is the fishing across from smokeys landing on the channel? Whats the ice thickness with the warm weather weve been having?

Fished Jamestown last thurs I did fair. Picked up around a dozen fish or so. Only 2 over the 14" mark though so not to many to take home. Red jigging raps and glow red jigging spoons seemed to do the trick. The dead sticks worked pretty good as well. Fished in 15 fow.

I also have been catching a fair amount of walleyes. Would like to get a few crappies but having trouble getting them to bite. Been moving the house around and having the best luck in shallow. 10' or so.

BIGFISHERWOMAN here's your report I've been fishing the res. alot and catching alot of eyes some small and a few in the 15-20" range with the biggest about 5lbs.

Tried to get a report from Jamestown area but looks like a ladys club got involved with fish reports. I had to go back a week before I found anything to do with fishing. Real sad lets try some real reports next time instead of a class reunion report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
