Whitetail-Master, if you are looking for a good place to go fishing for pike, I myself would head towards Robinson and try Lake Josephine. If you dont mind an hour drive. If you want to try somewhere near jamestown I would also reccomend maybe trying out at south Eckleson lake. There are some nice fish out there, and if you just want to sit on shore you can drive right past the south end of the lake and fish right off the gravel road. I'm pretty sure that the exit to get there is the eckleson exit go about three or four miles south and then head east a few miles and you should run right into it. My directions may be a little off but its in that area.

was fishing on the res sunday, 3 small keepers and a nice pike. Many small walleye, spinners with crawlers, leechs and minnows all produced fish. We were on the south end and drifting in the wind. Most walleye caught in 11-15 feet. Is any one else fishing out there or just not reporting anything. I use to see many people listing reports on here but last few months hardly nothing. What's up? It is nice to read and compare, helps build anticipation for the next fishing adventure.

I went out to pipestem yesterday evening. fished for about 2 hours, didn't even have a bit. I was out there a couple of times in june did fairly well on pike 3-5 pounders catching about 10 each day in 2 hours but could'nt even hook into one of those yesterday. It was about this time when the crappies were hitting hard last year, but I guess I'll have to try again over the weekend.

I forgot to say "thanks" to the guys who responded to my request. You reports really helped out since I did not have a lot of time to search for fish. Somebody should of warned me about the mosquitos though, sheesh...

Went back to Jamestown and fished the Res for the first time since 97. Had other stuff going on so I only got to fish for a couple of hours Saturday and about 3 hrs on Sunday. The water level seemed lower but the fishing was about the same. Caught lots of small walleyes and a few very small walleyes - like 4" long. Lindy rigs or spinners with crawlers or leaches all produced equally well. Caught fish in depths from 7' down to about 20', didn't really find a pattern there either. Finally switched to pulling cranks Sunday morning in an effort to get some bigger fish and it worked?? Caught a 12.5" perch on a #9 fire-tiger joined shad rap. Walleyes didn't get any bigger though. Over all my dad and I caught and released about 25-30 walleyes from 4-14". Great to see the old man in action again!

Fished the res on wed. night. Caught numerous small walleye, some no bigger than the palm of my hand. Alot in the range of 12 - 13inches. Went home with 3 nice 16 - 17in. fish. The bite was hot but fun. Fishing should be good in a year or two as long as we pick and choose our fish. Good luck!

fished the res on sunday, it was windy but enjoyable. Caught numerous walleye, 5 keepers 19, 18, 18, 15, and 14 all on spinners with bottembouncers and no snagums. watch for the bullheads. i advise bring extra bucket and clean out the bullheads you catch cats love them. Couple friends also fished sat and sun catching many small walleye, reported keeping 4. Most fish caught in 10-13 feet of water. Spent most time south of smokeys, on the east side.

Adam,

Fished the res yesterday from 11:00am to 6:00pm, not the best time of the day, but still a great time. Checked the area north of Smokies and caught a few small eyes in 10 to 12 feet. As we got in the shallower water the bite was gone. It did not seem to matter what we used, leeches or crawlers on spinners or crankbaits, the small eyes were hungry. Caught 15 to 20 small eyes, none were keepers. Had our best luck off the point by the old boat club and the east shoreline north of the old boat club. Used several different colors of spinners and red seemed to be the favorite.

Landings are in excellent shape!!! Great job by Dakota Anglers and the Stutsman County Park board and anyone else involved.

Fished about 5 or 6 hours this afternoon. 1 large northern, about 36 inches and a couple of nice crappies. Northern bit on a spinner w/leech and the crappies on crankbaits. Talked to several others at the dock and sounded about the same. Water level is good and the dock is excellent.

went out yesterday. Kind of a slow day. Managed to pick up a few eyes. 16-19 inchers. And one fairly good sized northern.
