iphone vs. droid razor

I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with.    Supposedly iphone has a little better reception but I also like the durability with the droid razor(gorilla glass etc..) since I work out in the field alot.   Anyone have some first hand experience with these "smart phones"?   I'm really not too concerned about all the apps etc... since I'll probably only use a few of the basic ones which I'm sure both have available.   One of my biggest concerns is which touch screen is the most user friendly.   I currently have a Blackberry and like the key pad.   I type with my thumbs and have struggled with touch screens.

wife has an iphone and I have a droid charge...honestly I like the charge better. they make "otter-boxes" for just about any phone that make them very durable.

I don't know much about the razor but the android system is really good and I have not been disappointed.

I have an I phone.....no problems. I'm pretty careful with it. No problems with the touchscreen unless you have been drinking. I'm sure they are all pretty good.

Here is my two cents, if you have a blackberry and it works and your not going to use any of the features droid and apple offer then keep your phone. Apple is hands down the most solid platform and reliable as far as operation goes. They both have gorilla glass so thats not an issue. 4g is something to look at as well. when 4 g gets here will the apple be able to utilize the service? I have used both phones, and i will be honest with you my favorite phone now is one that rings only lol. Smartphones are just to smart. I dropped verizon and went to straight talk and am super happy, I pay 490 dollars a year for unlimited everything and im not in a contract. Hope that helped

Go with the droid. Verizon has better coverage when your out in the sticks. The droid platform is all tied into google, very handy inmo. Also when you eventually start playing with the apps (which you will even though you don't think so) you will notice the droid has way more free apps. Not too sure about the razor other then it should be a good phone, I have an incredible 2 and like it a lot. Also, I used to type with my thumbs, after a bit of getting used to it, it's not bad at all.

Take a look at the droid 3. I really like mine, touchscreen or keyboardnare both at your disposal. And get the screen protectors. Get scratches, replace the protector and its clear as new.

But my iPhone is stylish, cool, and designed by an uber-genius dude who died recently. Can your stupid Droids say all that? :D

I have a Droid based Incredible.  It does everything well except for the phone part of it, which is probably my clumsiness rather than the phone itself.   When I talk on it I'm forever accidently touching something with my fat fingers or my ear or cheek and it does something wierd.    Getting better now so its probably smart phone - dumb operator more than the phone itself. The fidelity of the phone is terrible for my old rifle noised out ears, but I recently discovered a bluetooth thing that is fantastic.

I just got an I Pad and what amazed me is that the I phone has no internet Hot Spot.    We use that gadget a LOT - much more than I had ever dreamed.    It crossed my mind to upgrade to an I phone but not if they lack the Internet Hotspot.

I was just joking. I was no Jobs fan before or after.

No 4g on my iphone sure stinks, that's for sure.
Plus, Minnesota Lakefinder app is droid only. Booooo!

And I think the phone part of the iphone is sucky. The flip design with an angle makes best phone imo.

If you use it a lot for rugged use, I would look at the Verizon Casio G'ZOne Commando. They must be popular because cradle chargers were sold out locally and online for a long time until I finally got one. This is a waterproof and shockproof Android smartphone. It is only 3G but it is designed for the person who is hard on phones.

My .02 is that iPhones are probably more stable, but also more proprietary. It is very limiting when everything must come from iTunes and they don't support a local microSD card. Droid is a very open platform. You can buy TRAX maps for Droids at this time and not iPhones. If you want it for hunting and fishing, this may be a reason to lean one way or the other.

Yeah I like the TRAX.   My uncle has it on his new gps.  Pretty handy especially in rough areas of MT and ND where landowners didn't put their fences along section lines due to terrain.
Only problem with TRAX and droid is I assume you need cell coverage or is there some kind of gps capability I'm unaware of?
Also,  iphone 4s with Verizon will have 4G where 4G is available?

I went through the droid razor specs again.  Apparently I missed the gps part the first time.   Supposedly it has access to the most  satellites of any smart phone.   How accurate is it?   Is it 10 ft like most gps units?

Get an iphone. Way better battery life and throw a realtree camo otterbox on it and you will never worry about breaking it.  Go with the iphone 4, basically same as 4s except you don't have the siri app.

I'm just glad there are competitive choices. It drives them to make both better every month. Unlike microsoft's windows crap the last 15 years (since XP, which I still prefer).

Another thought, even though the razor just came out recently you might want to hold off for a bit because I'm sure another new one is coming out soon.

If you want to keep the keyboard, go with a Droid Pro. My wife has one and she loves it!
