Just wondering what everyone is seeing in ice formation with the cold snap we finally got.

SW part of the state I'm noticing ice on top of all the smaller dams and narrow parts of the heart river.

What are you guys seeing in your neck of the woods?

I will be going out this weekend to some smaller lakes near Bismarck.  I plan to check conditions and fish if seems thick enough.  I'm excited to get out there.  I'll probably go both Sat. and Sunday.

Yesterday I drove to Bismarck and only saw a few sloughs with ice. Today on the way home I noticed Crystal Springs was 3/4 covered with ice. I am not sure I would trust ice by this weekend but by the 12th. I think I will head out the 12th and 13th to the res in Jamestown.

I saw some young guys fishing by the bridge in the creek on Sweetbriar on Monday. Not sure if they caught anything or not but they were the first I have seen on any ice.

I think 2 weeks of this weather and some will be driving on it with their pickups. Once ice is formed it doesn't take long for it to get thick. I bet by the 12th we have a foot of ice.

Anyone have any actual reports? I am headed out to check a couple spots. Just would like to know if anyone has actually checked any yet.

Sykeston Dam was frozen over last week.  I'm going to check a few Carrington area lakes tonight after work.  Looking at the Lakewood web cam, Devils has a way to go.  I was hoping that it would have iced over with 3 degrees last night.

Josh, you should come with us. While we dont need a snowmobile. Im guessing it will be good. I am going to go out after the wife makes dinner and see whats up. Larimore is supposed to have the gates locked untill they get 10 inches is what I was told which is straight bull. If the ice isnt thick enough this weekend I am going to got to MSP to the ice fishing show.

Went out this morning around Minot area and checked Velva sportsmans dam 1 to 1 1/2 inches, Buffalo lodge 1 1/2 to 2 inches, and Glenburn pond 1 to 1 1/2 inches.  I am guessing about another 4 days and Buffalo lodge will be walkable.
