As its getting closer the more I've been thinking about it.  Whats everybody doing for tackle storage?  I have one of these Vexilar tackle bags but would like something more convenient to work with.

I keep a couple of these in a 5 gallon bucket.
I am a 5 gallon bucket guy for ice fishing. I use one for my bait that also has a padded lid that I sit on, on for my tip ups, one with my rods in them, one with my tackle, gaf, rod holders, radio, flash light, etc.

4 buckets, my vexilar, a 3 man tent, a 10 inch auger, cooler for food and beverage on a sled. It takes me about 5 minutes to load up for ice fishing.

I just use an extra plano tray (big one) from one of my tackle bags

No tackle storage bag, box, container, plan, strategy, or process survives the first ice fishing trip.  Every one I've put together or seen out on the ice ends up a complete mess at the end of the trip.  Add a few adult beverages and it gets even better.  So, I just make sure I've got the necessary items in some type of box and go fishing.  Good Luck!!

Here's my problem. After a few marks that won't bite it seems like I have every lure I own laying somewhere in a 3ft area.

That's a funny statement there I end up with spoons hanging all over and rapalas too then after beverages and folding up portable the next trip spend first hour digging hooks out of everything and putting back in box only to repeat next time

Argh!  Both you gents are well versed.  I try to keep the tackle at a minimum, and let everything have it's place in the tackle box.  I use 2 small soft sided tackle boxes that will fit into a 5 gallon pail.  If there is down time between bevies I try to put stuff back in it's place.

I think its like 15x12 ??? big enough to fit all my crap and not take up too much room. I used to have a small bag with a bunch of small trays and boxes but that just turned into a cluster. Having just one box to dig through has been much easier

Nice spread! Very well organized. I think I have you beat as far as volume goes however, haha. I'll post a pic of my trays sometime later. I'd like to see what others have for ice tackle too!

I like to keep a film canaster with me. maybe even two. If i need to change lures I just put it in the canaster. I like that, rather than laying them on the ice and possibly losing/forgetting/damaging them.

All you need is a Genz Worm, a Buckshot, and a Chubby Darter and you should have all your bases covered!

This is my set up, I love it, it holds four rods, 3 tackle boxes, my gaff, and a filet knife, which
the lid works great as a cutting board.

Some great ideas for sure! I use 2 different tackle boxes, one for hard water and one for the boat. Clam is airing out, Vex is charged and working, a few reels already re-lined. Just gotta get the auger fired up and I'm ready for some hardwater!

Tell you the truth i dont want or need more crap in there haha. I pretty much just buy as needed or if a new color chubby darter comes out. My whole goal was to fit everything in one spot. things can and do get cluttered in the flipover - especially after a couple bowls of loud mouth soup haha
