Hey guys,
I currently have a trip planned to Devils for the first week in April. I see you have been having a pretty mild winter this year and I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were if we would have enough ice to fish on yet by then.

At this point, it's too hard to call yet.  My guess is the first half of this month will be nice, and the second half will get cold and slightly snowy.  We're going to need a lot of cold weather though to keep the ice walkable for that long.

Yea I see you guys are having some crazy warm weather this year. In the 30s most days, but still seems to get in the teens or lower at nights. Only time will tell, but we have been fortunate enough the past 7 or 8 years we have planned our trip for that same time of year and made it on no problems. Even driving on a few years yet in the past.
Sure makes for some nice fishing conditions now though! Save some for us guys.

I've got a hunch we'll "pay for" this mild winter by having a late/windy/crappy winter and one of those azure blue windy low-cloud-blowing-out-of-the-cold-NW springs that never ends.

These patterns usually "wobble" around the northern hemisphere which is why annual averages always seem to come within a few degrees of each other. I'm guessing somebody on the other side (Siberia or whatever) is having a cold nasty winter.

I hope I'm wrong about spring - but it does tend to even out.
