Ice was VERY slippery yesterday, nearly fell a couple times. Thinking about getting some cleats for the bottom of my boots. Anyone that uses these have suggestions as to the best brand?

Just make sure to get traction on your heels.  Some just have toes.

I use fleece lined overshoes provided by my work, with built in spikes, work great and keep my feet warm and dry with regular boots. They come from Chet's in Fridley Minn.

Chetsshoes.com, then rubber footwear. I use the zipper model $88.00.

SLC2 or 3 depending on what size boots you wear.  I still can't believe how well they bite.

Yep, got some for Christmas. Stay on well, go on easy and work great. A life saver in the high winds and slick ice last Monday.

Here ya go,.lots of options to choose from,i use the "stabilicers" because the sheet metal screws don't chew up the shacks floor like ice spikes do.For less than $20 you have other good options, check it out.

Yesterday, I noticed Herberger's was selling the strap on cleats for 80% off. You could pick up a pair for $4.

If you enjoy a beverage or 12 you want what he said.  The BN railroad ones are great also if you know anyone who works for the railroad.  Also make sure they are on good when you are by a hole.  Very few float!  I keep a pair in the truck, my tackle box, tipup pail, rod holder, and ice house.

PS if you run tipups make sure your buddies don't have them and never loan a pair.  You will be 1st to the flag everytime!!!!!!

Thanks for that link.  I do believe I owe myself a Christmas present.  With my big feet and boots all the other ones are junk.  I need something that stays the heck on and having a little spendier cleat will hopefully keep me more disciplined in knowing where I put them!

I tried a bunch but after losing more expensive ones in the snow I settled on HTs - they work for me. Sometimes the ones with heel cleats would slip off my heel, causing way worse wipeouts cuz I was expecting traction... And it was gone. Ouch!

Ditto on YakTrax. I use the pros. They are ~$25 vs $20 for the regulars, but have a Velcro strap. I've had mine for 5the years and haven't lost them
