What are you guys doing for hauling a ice auger on a snowmobile. Looking for ideas, as I bit the bullet on a used sled I am picking up tomorrow.

I carry my auger on the back of the sled. I mad a bracket that the auger handles sit in and a v the auger goes on. secure with tarp straps. I have had auger racks on 4 different sleds. all my sleds have been long tracks with a rear rack. I have seen reguler track sleds with auger racks made off the passenger handles and rear bumper. The first racks i made were with the auger cross ways but too many close calls with cars and trees i now hual my auger length ways so it isnt sticking out the side. Most of my racks i just use u bolts to attach.

Sportfish,
What kind of sled did ya end up getting? Come up with any ideas for hauling your auger? I finally fabricated a basket/auger mount last weekend for my sled. Took two weeks of brain-storming and the finished product looks a lot different that the first draft. Having the maiden voyage this weekend. I'll try to get some pictures for the photo gallery.
I have a fever...and the only prescription...is more walleyes!!

I ended up with a yamaha apex. I mount the auger on the fin grips that I put on the back of the sled. Seems to work pretty good.

I bought a used sled about a month ago that already had a luggage rack on the back. I took two peices of 2x6 and bolted to the rack. The one has a half circle for setting the auger head in and the other has a smaller half circle for setting the blade on. Fasten it down with two tarp straps and works like a charm.
