Dont waste your time trying to better the people that make them for a living. Go to them with your floor plans and let them make you a trailer. Much faster, stronger, faster than trying to make one your self.

What's wrong with building your own?  Maybe he likes doing things on his own or doesn't have the money to have someone else build one.

KWindage,
Go check out the steel prices, cost of a mig welder, cost of axels, tires, making sure you have everything square and flat and then come back and tell me maybe he cant afford someone else having the FRAME made up.

Have the frame made up and build on top of it.

Well money is not a problem and I have access to a a few fully stocked shops with full welding, shearing, sawing, High Def CNC plasma and a 12' press brake. Oh and also i know how to use all of the said machines. I could just go out and buy a Grand Castle but why when I could make one on my own.

Have fun and make your own. I would start out with a steel angle iron frame and go from there.

Steel angle iron frame will not be strong enough if your making a house of any size.

My father in law and I were going to build one this fall.  Lowe's sells a frame with a drop down axle.  Since both of us can weld (tig/mig) we thought it would be an easy solution to trying to purchase an overpriced house.  Let me know if you find some plans.  They'd be a great reference to our own ideas.

I have some plans for ya, i built my own and it was pretty fun. I bought my frame from a guy who lives in Miltona, MN just north of Alexandria. It's called Miltona Blacksmith, he used to build the frames for Ice Castle, he quit and went on his own cuz they didn't pay em shit. i would imagine he's still around. Then i purchased some plans that i can send you, and i went off of it and made a v-front cuz the plans were for a square front. send me an email on here and i can get you the plans, and show you some pics of mine. It's fun to build ur own cuz you can add stuff whenever you want. i'm still addin things to mine

If a guy could get carbon fiber veneer panels that weren't horridly expensive, I think they'd look pretty cool on the outside.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.
