I have a HOWA in 270 cal bolt action I bought approx 15yrs ago. I paid 450 for it brand new. Great gun for the price I paid. The gun is flawless in performance other then I had to stretch the spring out a bit to push up a little harder on the shells.

Just bought a Model 1500 in a 270 WSM couple months ago. Really like it so far. Had trigger adjusted. Got the synthetic stock with the wide forestock. My son dropped a whitetail buck at 350 yds. with his youth tag. We put around 200 rds. through it so far ( I put maybe 50 through it cause I can't get it out of the boy's hands). Paid a little over 500 with scope.

Howa has been making quality barreled actions for other companies for a long time have only begun to sell more rifles under their own name in the last 5-10 years. I have a Weatherby Vanguard VGX that was produced in the late 70's by Howa using the same action as the gun you're considering and its a tackdriver with several types of factory ammo. The Smith and Wesson line of Model 1500 rifles were also produced by Howa and had a good reputation for accuracy.

All in all I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

Howa, Interarms, S&W, Mossberg, Wby Vanguard, all essentially the same rifle, and all excellent rifles! They're all fairly accurate and come with a good adjustable trigger right from the factory. I've had 3 in 223 (still have one), 300WinMag, and still have one in 7-08 and one in 270Win. If I had to give a feature I didn't like about them it's that I think they're a bit on the heavy side, but certianly not unmanageable.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

I own the Smith & Wesson line in .223, .243, .270, .30-06, & .338. I started collecting them (obviously). I only have positive things to say about them. My first was the .243 back in 1983. It has put down more deer than I can count. My wife now shoots it and loves it as well. It took a little while for me to adjust to letting her use it. There is a custom builder in Casselton that uses the Howa action for most of his rifles as well.

I have the S&W stamped version in 25-06.

It's a smooth action for the price. Accuracy is good (better than me anyway).

And the best endorsement I could give is Yes, I would buy another.
