How long until...

How long will it take before someone developes a trail cam that will instantly analyze and score antlers, then send out a image and text message to the hunter when a deer of pre-determined criteria is in the area?

Wouldn't that be great?

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

I've got just 2 things to say about trail cameras.  I don't own any.  I do enjoy looking at the photos others get off of theirs.

Pretty close to your idea anyways.

With the Moultrie Game Spy Game Management System, you can view pictures from your game camera without having to make the trip to retrieve memory cards. Just attach the GPS Game Spy Connect® to your game camera and it wirelessly transmits data to a private-access web site via the AT&T cellular network.

On the Game Management web site, you can view your photos, but that's just the beginning. See how your battery is holding up or change your game camera settings through your computer, cell phone or PDA. Choose to receive uploads daily, hourly, or immediately after the image is taken.

On the site you can also create photo albums and galleries, as well as edit and enhance the photos. Organize your photos on the site by time, date, moon phase, temperature, barometric pressure and customizable ID fields. This information can help you find out where and when the big deer are moving.

I just saw this on bowhunting.com

Introducing BuckScore, a downloadable program developed by two professors from the Mississippi State University’s Deer Ecology and Management Lab, along with a graduate-researcher, over a three year period.

Simply upload a buck’s digital image into your PC and use the tracing tool to outline the antlers. Within moments hunters will get an accurate estimate of the antlers total score!!

Using known measurements for average deer ear widths, eyeball widths, and measurable facial features such as the eye-to-eye distance, these researchers developed equations to assess the antlers in inches using the Boone and Crockett scoring system.

BuckScore Pro is expected to be available as a $10 download at their website before the Labor Day holiday.  www.buckscore.com

When all you have with you, is your bow, all your problems start to look more and more like targets.
