How long have you been a member of this site?

How many of you were members of the original Fishingbuddy?  I don't remember the year but it must have been around 1995 or 96.  I'm sure I was one of first 10 to sign up.

1996 I think maybe 97. Remember HEAVY and his tireless rants about lead shot? Haha

We should still be bitching up a storm about having to use steel.  Classic jumping of the bridge scenario.

The original owners name was Dean Mostad or something like that wasn't it? I think he might have been the last unsuccessful sheep hunter in ND.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

1995 or 1996 for me.  I paid for teh membership, and got a free Tshirt and 2 rocket bobbers.  I also won the monthly drawing once and got a free thing of Flitz polish.  Use to go as Mr. Walleye, but in one off the changeovers it got lost.

Yes Heavy was a real guy.  He was a friend of a friend.   His nickname was Heavy because he was kind of chunky.  He definately had opinions but I got along with him fine.  Peoples opinions tend to be stronger when writing on message boards.

Dean Mostad was the original owner of the site but he wasn't drawn for a sheep.  It was a friend of his who got a sheep tag.  Both had taken about a month off from work.  Saw very little.  On the last weekend apparently a real nice one got up as they crossed the peak of a hill.  It was said it got up about 10 yards away.  Gun was emptied but nothing connected.  He was real bummed about it to the point that noone would bring up the subject which was kind of funny because he was the type of guy  to give crap to everyone.  But it was just understood not to talk about it.

Fishingbuddy initially was only a site to report where the fish were being caught on the Missouri River.  It expanded from there.  I remember them trying to think of ways to put a web cam on the bridge or boat dock to see how many boats were out on the water.  I don't know how serious they were about that but it would have been cool.

I have still have the rocket bobber from Dean.  It's a great bobber.  I have bought a number of them since then.

Man, gotta be approaching 10 years,  in fishingbuddy's first year of operation I won a hooded fishingbuddy sweatshirt, I still have it.  I suppose it's a classic by now.

Joined shortly after I moved here from Alaska, I am a memeber of the Alaska outdoor forums and joined FBO for the same insight and information that I read on AOF. Little did I know what this site had in store. Its been a humorous and head shaking few years to say the least. Looking forward to many more.
