    1. I know this really goes against what I said in my last post...but....i heard some guys were catching some pretty decent fish out at Homme Dam, so i thought i would go give it a try.  I fished there on the 28th of January.  Fish from about 10am until about 4pm or so.  Fished right on top of the main point on the north side of the dam, basically straight across from the boat ramp.  Ice was in great condition and about 18+ inches thick.  There is about a foot of snow on top.  I fished in about 17-18 FOW, used mainly glow jigs or gold jigs tipped with only half minnows...otherwise the fish just eat the bottom half of the minnow.  I caught about 75 or so perch( maybe 8 keepers) and 6 crappie about 2-4 feet of the bottom( maybe 2 keepers).  I didnt take anything home, just catch a release.  Just another tip if you plan on fishing there, if you fish just east of that main point on the north side, its around 22-25 FOW you will catch more crappie than perch....its the exact opposite if you fish on the west side of the point.

    Fished the north end, just west of the main point, around the second cove.  About 15 - 16' of water.Perch bite was sporadic.  caught about 4-5 right away that didn't amount to much.  bite was slower in the afternoon, til about 5.  Then marked fish up in the 3' to 8' of water off bottom.  Thinking they were crappie, but couldn't get em to bite.  overall I caught fish but nothing for size.  Tried tip ups for pike in the same area but no takers.

    I live rather close to Homme Dam and I would not waste anytime fishing there.  Over the past few years fishing has been worse and worse each year.  They drain the water level just before winter so accomidate the higher water levels in the spring flood.  Also they have not stocked it in about 6 years.  About 2-3 years ago the dam had alot of winter kill on it.  Fishing is not good

    my best luck is in the tailrace, a few summers ago me and my dad went there and in a few hours kept a 15 and 20 inch walleye, and a 25 and 30 inch northern, and a 11 inch crappie, didn't even try the lake. but I was using a red scaley spoon with a few angle worms on it and something grabbed it and broke my 14 pound line, it almost broke the rod to boot. the line was tight when it decided to make a run for it, no slack.

    there was a full size house off that point for about a week must have used a wheeler to get it out
