homemade livewell

I am wondering if anyone has attempted to construct thier own livewell? Any ideas would be great.

I made one with an old cooler. It had the drain in the bottom. I bolted a bilge pump on there and wired it into my light outlet. Whenever I wanted to run it I would turn the lights on.

Are you going to put this livewell in the floor or will it be "free standing"?

In the past I've seen several pre-made add-oon type livewells in the Bargain caves of different Cabela's stores.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

I have an older Lund fiberglass boat that used to have a livewell in it at one time or another. So I just built a new one to fit my requirements, then glassed it in. Works great.

I built one on a older boat a few years back. Spent a couple hundred dollars at Cabelas and bought the tank, pump, and all the hoses needed. Re did the whole front end of the boat. Actually turned out real good. Made for a good winter project. The homeade live wells with coolers look cheap and sloppy. Do it right and buy the correct material.

The ne FLW magazine has an article on building a baitwell which could be modified to a livewell.
