Do you think a trail cam would work as a cost effective method of home surveillance.  I have some local idiot kids who are causing some problems in my yard and I want to catch them in the act.  I live in town on a corner lot.  I've never used a trail cam and don't know much about them.  Am I wasting my time with this idea?

I'd say they'd probably be able to find the camera and take that as well.  You'd be better off finding something that doesn't look like a camera but actually is.

I would get the Primos Blackout camera. Lots of people been using them for security situations as well as hunting. No lights, no flash.  Try and hide it as best you can and see what happens.

agreed   try and mount it as high as possible so they can't just rip it off the wall or sumthin, no flash and no light they shouldn't even see it but just in case they do and it's higher up it will be hard as hell for them to steal it,   either that or get one that automatically transmits the images to the internet... can't remember what brand does that, i wanna say it's a moultrie?

Never argue with an idiot.... they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Mount a cheap one with flash and also one without flash that way they think if the flash goes and they take that cam they dont worry about another one. And also if you mount them opposite eachother then say if the flash goes off and they turn away then the one without gets a nice pic of there face

JB Weld a couple of razor blades to the camera; if you don't get any pictures, you should have some DNA...

Get 2 trail cameras   first set up a motion detector and a couple of lights. string  wire about a foot of the ground so when the lights come on they run and fall from the wire the trail cameras should get several pictures
