As climate experts had already predicted, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has announced that La Niña – which was the cause behind so much of the extreme weather towards the end of 2010 and into 2011 – has re-emerged in the Pacific Ocean and is expected to gradually strengthen and continue into the Northern Hemisphere’s winter.

Shorthairs, I was hoping for no snow this winter!  One winter where i have to wear spikes on my boots all season while icefishing would be nice.

No doubt!  Last year up until March I was getting stuck in slush pockets even with snowmobiles.  March was good driving conditions at least.  I would like to drive my pickup on the ice for a christmas eve morning slaughter.

Yes, I was looking for a way to mount my HDS-10 in my pickup so I could use the insight mapping for ice fishing.  I then started thinking about the past couple winters and thought, what's the point if it is more of the same.  Shorthairs, do you have a crush on this La Nina chick or what?  You talk about her all the time.  I personally despise her.

That would be really sweet for zoning in on rock piles.  I have seen smaller unites like yours mounted in pickups and it is the cats ass.

Receding water on the big lake would be a good thing.  We don't need a drought like texas though yuck.

If you mean because the coulee washes out and the lake empties into the sheyenne and then stabalizes to 1446, and that is why old 281 reappears, I would believe that, they are scrambling up here to get stuff done with the dike(or is it dyke), hmmmm, I wonder what the hurry is NOW after so many years of inactivity?

This was my initial thought also.  I really don't see us getting a drought for a few years now.  Then again, this is ND....

What about your girl La Nina?  Isn't she supposed to be a wet one?

Yes, Devils Lake would be the destination of choice.  And just bring beer, booze tends to cause too much shinanigans.

La Nina's typically (but not always) bring colder than normal winters with near normal snowfall. This is actually what the old farmers almanac is predicting.
