Heart River - Tuesday, May 18, 2010
Report Details
Seems like I posting reports to myself about the fishing on the Heart River. Oh well, that's okay. Went up north of Flasher again last night with a couple of buddings. Didn't think it would be to good because they must be letting water out of Heart Butte Res. and the water is running hard and fast again, and it is muddy. Anyway, right away I caught a 12 in walleye. Released. Then one of my buddies caught a small pike. Released. Then the other buddy caught a 21 inch walleye. That's pretty big for the Heart. Luckily they don't eat fish, so I cleaned it up and plan on having with a nice ribeye. End of post.
Species

Re:I have fished the Heart River south of Richardton for years. It is perhaps the best untold secret. If you want 10 + pound catfish, and lessor norherns etc...I put in the canoe and jig in the deeper holes with a 1/8 oz. maribou jib with a small minnow and catch several resident walleyes also. You are not the only one. it is truly a river of large catfish.
