This is North Dakota, we don't "tie" jigs, we "buy" jigs. Or we "mold" our own. I'm just guessing here, but I think a large majority are bought from Northland Tackle.
You caught my interest though- I would like to see a tied jig, maybe they would work here?

I "molded" and painted these a few years ago.  Paint job is nothing fancy, but they work.

I just got all my stuff from cabelas and am going to be molding and painting a bunch of jigs this winter.  Got my 1st batch molded the other night.  Now i'm trying to decide if i should just dip them in the powder paint or try an airbrush?  Anyone used the powder paint in a airbrush or in a fluid bed?

He's obviously a fly tyer and crappie/panfish/bass jig tyer.

Crappiezilla:
I ltie a lot of em, but mine are awfully rag tag to photo and post here even if I knew how.  The smallest I go are about ice jig size and the largest, if i can call them a jig, are humungous sort-of-a-jig goofy looking flies sometimes up to 8 or 10 inches for Northerns.  I'm trying to find out what kind of jigs to tie for Stripers.  I'm hoping a Clouser type will do it, so will try varying sized weighted ones as they tend to run deep.

AHA, I see u are fromW Va!
Here in ND most of the fishing is done for walleyes more than anything else, and ask a ND fisherman about jigs and he envisions  a weight molded on a hook like snowgoosehuinter posted, usually commercially bought usually with or without a commercial twistertail and either a minnow or nightcrawler impaled on it!  Works well, too, but not what you were asking about.
Obviously you have experience with Crappies.  Any Redear experience?

Wow, those boobjigs actually seem to work pretty well based on the vid on their site. I could see those being a hot bait during ice fishing season when the walters are hugging the bottom.
