Gun Porn!!

I thought a thread of "Gun Porn" would take my mind of all this snow.

Here's a custom Sako 222 mag.  She needs a new scope, so if anyone has suggestions for that, I'm all ears.  I'm looking for 400 yard paper punching for the most part, but should a yote walk across the range..........

I have no suggestions on what type of scope... but she sure is pretty...

An old 3-9x40 AO or 4-12x40 AO Leupold that's old enough that it's beginning to "Plum".

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

Neck up 204 Ruger brass and roll your own.

i have an old remington 700 adl in .222. i inherited it from my grandpa along with several other rifles. I put a Nikon buckmaster 4.5 x 14 power 42 mm obj. lens on it. Love the scope especially for the money...about $300. I shoot sub moa groups with 52 grain speer hollowpoints over 23 grains of IMR 3031 at 3050 fps. My favorite load is 40 grain hornady v-max over 25 grains of IMR 4895 at 3200 FPS ( this one really blows up the gophers!) Hope this helps. (Note: both loads are at or near max so be careful and work your way up)

I'm bettin he can run those 52's to 3300+.  The Duece mag has more capacity than a 223Rem.

It was my understanding that the 204 came from the 222 mag but i do not have the equipment to make.  Do not plan to shoot often.  On trade they will not give me much because of the shell, the 22-250 is better but still would not mine having maybe 100 bullets for it.  Why, I do not know.  So would like to be able to just purchase some 222 mag.  In view of that, is there anywhere they sell this shell?  db

Im sorry my earlier post was for a .222 not a .222 mag....my bad disregard my load data, but the scope i mentioned is great! If you youre willing to spend some more money go with a nikon monarch i have one of these also and the clarity is outstanding! maybe not quite as good as a zeiss or a swarovski but at half the price......

db, I load my own ammo.  I haven't seen a box for sale in many years.  I've even tried to get some from Sako, but since beretta got involved, I can't locate any from them either.  The only brass I can find in duece mag is from Remington and I usually buy a bunch when I find it.  If you're looking for some ammo and a place to check it out , I can probably help you with that.  Send me a pm.  I plan on a fairly stiff rotational schedule for my brass this summer.    I need to work up an optimal load for her this summer and I suspect it's going to be fun.  What model remington do you have if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks everyone for the scope recommendations.  She's not my only pony needin' a new saddle.

I have a model 600 mohawk, last night found on internet CONLEY PERCISION CARTRIDGE 662-526-5886.  Call today and for $70-100 per box of 50 plus $15 for handling can get this shell.  Have 6 different types.  He recommended the 50 gr v-max at 68.90/50 shell box.  I do not have the knowledge I should have but will this work to puchase from them?  I do not know if I can do a pm but would try.  However if you read, this tell me by this method.  db

Is that boing or boring?  Look boing up in the dictionary and could not find.  But then I have a old dictionary.  Did not mean to bore anyone and i hope I did not boing someone either.  Unless it has something to do with what I may have done when I was young.  We call it somethng else back then.  So help me with what boing means so I understand things.  I will admit I have little knowledge with words used in texting if that is what it is.  Life is good and for me it is shorter than most and I sure do not want to miss out on something.  And if it is good I sure do not want to miss out as I have miss out on some much good up to this point.  So someone help me please.  db

Boing!!!! as expressed above would apply to blood flow being directed to a particular appendage.

Cool model rifle.  Enjoy!

I've never bought from this company so I can't really advise one way or the other if this is a good company.  There are several custom reloading companies that sell over the internet.  You may just have to test the waters and find a supplier you like and trust.  At least you seem to have found a place to purchase ammo.  Now you might have to take your 222 mag out for a stretch more often.

Okay,  When I was young we call that sometime else and I am scare to print as Tim will kick me out..  When we were young it was good.  Middle age it was good and old age well you know, there are memories.  So I guess I did not miss out in it, and I did not do something stupid with it.
I have one box of factory left so I guess now I will try to purchase as I do not want to shoot that box.  I have a 22 hornet as I have stated before in the pre 64 model 70.  Dad purchase a 222 pre 64 as it was a step up years ago and that was my first deer rifle.  Not the best as the bullets did bounce off like the 243.  Guess Dad felt that was the most I could handled.  The next year I did get my 30-30 model 94.  Now the deer still did not go down but I am sure those bullets did not bounce off.  Not sure when the 222 mag came but thanks for the info and will order and try.  Do thank all.  db

db,  You need to check out them boing pills,  I was having lunch with an old timer who is a good friend and he was telling me about them.   He said they are expensive but you only need a half of one so he cuts them in two.   he was telling me he feels like a kid again.   I am not teasing.

I am not sure but a buddy of mine said it is like steel.  How do you admit to the clinic when there are only women there of what you want?
Whitetail appreciate your comment. thanks.
So to change the subject as we discuss guns, I did acquire a 219 zipper in a Marlin 65 and also a whole bunch of shells. Every gun has its strenght for what it was made along with it weakness when you use it for what it was not design to do.  But I was wondering when everybody talks about the 17 and 204 and they are new and good, will my old 219 compete with them for whatever?
One thought is that I love the 220 swift and forget about the cost of shells I feel that shell will blow all the rest away.  But then I do like my 1997 3/4ton Dodge, cummings with only three payments left and it is mime, feel my Mathew bow is the best and someday would shoot a record buck with a 25-20 model 92.  db
