Gloves or Mittens

Was wondering what kind of gloves or mittens would work in the subzero temperatures that we've been having. I bought a pair of 100 gram insulated gloves from Walmart, but I'm only able to withstand about 10-15 minutes while cleaning snow with them. I ordered a pair of N4B Arctic Flyer Mittens from Sportsmans Guide. They have a removeable wool liner that you can wash.

Mittens are always better for keeping your hands warmer. Since your fingers stay together instead of being seperated by two layers they transfer heat between each other.

I joined the military not only to fight for my country but to fight for those that can't fight for themselves. Thats why I'm here.

Get a pair of leather chopper mittens with wool liners.

I have worn out many pairs of the liners and even some of the leather outers over the years while feeding cattle. I am not sure it can get cold enough here to get through them. Just make sure you don't get them too small as they will be less able to keep you warm.

Look at a farm store and you should be able to find them. Vogue - not, warm - yes.

Grandoe waterproof leather gloves lined with Primaloft (synthetic down) are what I wear for snow-removal or snowmobiling.

I wear choppers that are big enough that a pair of thin work gloves fit inside. then when i have to do something that you cant do with mitts, i still have a thin glove to work with.

Manzella Tundra or manzella grizzly series gloves are the warmest gloves I've ever worn and they still give you decent dexterity

I have frost bitten my fingers on a few different occasions but my hands were wet. The cold dry conditions we have now are not that tough to keep warm in. The rule is enough room to move freely and a wind proof outer shell. When working friction itself will warm things a lot but if you sweat and things get wet you are toast. For cheep and reliable, leather buckskins (choppers) with a removable Morrino wool liner cant be beat. Remember to trade out when they get wet from snow or slop. The reason for cheap. I've tried many different synthetics, ski and snowmobile gloves, cotton rig gloves, you name it. I still like the old choppers

more to it than the type of glove or mitten. Correctly fitting mittens are going to be warmers than gloves. But gloves are needed in most cases due to the ability to work in them. big factors - what you ate, hours of sleep you have had, age, circulation (is yours plugged), blood pressure, booze or no booze, type of activity performed in them, tight vs. loose fitting.....................
Stay thirsty my friends

mittens by far are better than any pair of gloves but the best pair of gloves I've ever owned are made by Ironclad. The Tundra by Ironclad kept my hands quite warm that morning is was -44. They're windproof, waterproof and insulated.

I'm very happy with the ice armor gloves and mittens. Tought to beat a heat pack inside the mitten to stay warm. They are $.59 on sale at alot of stores right now.

I have an ugly old pair of mittens that presumably were military issue. They are hugeand re fur/wool backed and have a stout cord between them that go around your neck to prevent loss. Just like little kids mittens! LOL They are large enough you can wear a pair of really thick gloves inside them.
I haven't seen any like these for sale anywhere for years, but I did see a few pairs for sale at the Mandan Gun Show a couple weeks ago. They were the same type of glove, though a lot smaller than my giant ones. Mine must have been produced for Artic or Antarctic conditions. They are almost too warm, and so I don't even wear them much. Wish I could post a picture, though they are so ugly they might break the camera! LOL
I've had em for 40 - 50 years, and wouldn't give them up till they pry them from my warm dead fingers! LOL
