I have a good Friend who is looking to get a Wirehaired Griffon pup. If anyone knows of someone who has a litter or going to have a litter or some contact info to some who knows of some, please let me know.

Thanks

Got a wirehaired pup out of a breeder in Washburn a couple years ago.  Great little dog.  Doesn't have the real long hair that some of them do.  Lots of people mistake him for a shorthaired, except for his beard.  Gary Arbach is the breeder.

Prairie kennels is where I picked up my wirehaired pointing griffon. They specifically breed for hunting and I am thoroughly happy with my dog.PM me if you have any other questions.

We have purchased two Wirehairs from Gary Arbach in Washburn over the years and have been very pleased with hunting instincts and personality of both dogs.  Ours are housedogs and are well behaved with proper exercise.  Happy Hunting!!

I would bet it was beat or something really bad happened to it when it was a pup. i got it @ 4 months old and it took me and wife along time to get it to come to us and trust us.  The bad part is its GUN SHY and i dont think i will break it.

My GWP is a Washburn pup; she was at least 4 mos then and an extremely timid pup. At nearly 3yoa she's still overly cautious and timid, but has great hunting instincts and a wonderful family dog. We worked hard introducing her to the gun and will start soon working her with the beeper collar; she shows no signs of gunshyness.  Lesson learned for me: get them at 7 wks, no later. Not looking for confirmation here with the pro trainers - just my personal mantra. I believe they miss out on the critical socializing, attention and bonding they'd get at home, and that can't be substitued with pedigree.

Good luck on the GWG search - they're an awesome dog!

Not a griffon, but Top Shelf Kennels in Horace has great German wirehaired pointers. My pup is 19 months old, and already has two full falls under his collar. Couldn't be more pleased! Great temperment (not a lick of aggression) and an excellent house dog, but really turns on the afterburners out in the field. Total bird nut. Jeff Jalbert is the breeder's name. Stand-up guy, IMO.
