Have both. one thing I like about the tom tom is that it shows me what the speed limit is. And it goes red if I'm 5 mph over, there's so many times when your wondering what the speed limit is on rural roads.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 1350 and it does the same thing....my vote is for Garmin

I got mine online a refurbished model for less than $90...got the NDTRAX chip for it and I have never looked back....

although if I did it again I may have gone with the Nuvi 500 it's water proof and made more for walking and hiking....I like the screen on mine better but it lives in the vehicle

And would have saved me a few tickets along the way also!!

My vote is still for Garmin however.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

True, my droid has that capability but I  haven't seen anything that says you can put the NDtrax stuff on a droid or other garmin mapping tools. I'll be honest, I haven't thought about doing that either.

I picked up the Nuvi 500 (which is waterproof) as well for use in the boat, hunting, etc.... where it will be exposed to the elements.  I don't necessarily want my phone to get wet.

I have the Garmin 1350.  I love it.  The Droid isn't free.  You paid for it and pay a monthly fee.  The 1350 I have has lifetime free updates also.  It has gotten me all over the US.  Definitely the Garmin.
