Everyone will hate you, and you'll be working all during hunting season.

On the upside, you'll get a flashy light on the top of your truck, and you'll get to carry a gun around.  Wait, I've got that and I'm not a game warden....nevermind.

If you are kinda different and like to wear brown or gray pants go for it.  You will have to like to hunt people instead of animals come hunting season, though.  Get used to saying "I am just doing my job sir(ma'am).  I watched a young lady get checked at Dead Colt about 6 weeks ago and that was an absolute hoot.  She had to spit out her chew to blow in the breathalyzer, then she proceeded to get a minor in consumption and fishing without a liscense(a $300 fine BTW, a lot more than I expected!).  I was in the boat and waved at him as I came in to the dock.  I expected him to check me, but he just kept moving along.  I watched some pretty hefty tickets given out paddlefishing as well.  I chuckled when I heard the person pleading and warden say "I am just doing my job".

Can I recommend a job in some related biological field.  Fisheries or wildlife biology?  I'm currently going to school at Valley City State for a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Science and its one of the most fun degrees that I can think anyone could go to school for.  Field trips for your lab classes to seine small streams and identify birds.  Just think about going straight to your four year school rather than going to Bottineau and then having to transfer.

i would say go for it. I think it would be rewarding.  The people that wouln't like you you wouldn't want to hunt or fish with anyway.  It would definately be more rewarding then an oilfield career.  If it isn't for you then you could go into a wildlife biology field or law enforcement.

I am also attending VCSU, definentaly a fun field to get into. Id recomend just coming to VCSU right off the bat because alot of students transfer over to this program from bottineau.

If you get a good station in the border patrol you can get in the outdoors, depending on what state you go to you may be limited on hunting and fishing opportunities, but you also will have the opportunity to relocate to the northern border some day, and while you wait you get nice leave built up so you could take a trip or 2 a year back to hunt or fish.

Don't listen to this junk....people with brains in their heads will not hate you....if you think that you would like to do this you need to go ahead and give it a shot.  You will obviously run into some morons that think you are out to get them on purpose.  Good luck young man

Yeah, but the goose hunting is phenomenal up north and the school is pretty lax as far as studies and beer drinking goes!  Your actually right to go to a 4 year school first! Get adjusted to the real world right away and no issues about transferring credits!

The wardens I know usually get about 6 days to hunt during the ND rifle season which is really no different than the average 8-5er hunting on the wknds. Even if you are a really nice guy, there are still going to be total dicks to wardens for no reason. Of course since there aren't many game wardens in the state, everyone will know who you are. Could make nightlife kind of tricky at bars and such. If you don't like having to put up with cranky land owners and complainingg farmers, being a warden might not be the greatest idea for you.

Be a mortician in a small town. They only work when people die so you would have plenty of time to hunt and fish.
