Well I decided to dedicate the weekend to cranking and more specifically to getting comfortable with leadcoring. Started out thursday morning working 7-10ft with no luck. Moved to 10-15ft with no luck. Finally in 20-25ft I started to get into them. Found them all the way out to 40ft. Ended up with 16, but not a lot of size. Biggest was 17" and I kept 2 17s 2 16s and a 14' for my day. ...Read more
Fishing = less than to be desired.
Always someone catching fish but if I may interject my 2 hours of fishing on the 4th, 4 hours fishing on the 5th and a near full day on the 6th it seems very tough on the East End.
People are brinding in mostly 13 to 14 inch fish with some mixed in bigger fish. Douglas Bay (mini Van Hook) had 4 boats (including me) in it on Sunday. Main lake...Read more
We fished on the 4th of July back in the bays on the East End pitching swimbaits in shallow water. There are some nice to fish to be caught if you dedicate yourself to this technique and I expect fishing will improve as the weather warms up this week. With the weather we've had and all the water running through the system right now, water temps in the main lake and the bays are more even...Read more
Fished wed night and Thurs and Friday mornings on north shore. Caught 20+ fish each time out with most in the 14 inch range and a few up to 20 inches. Lindy's and crawlers worked well along with leeches. 17 to 22 fow. Tryed for salmon sat for a while and lost one on a herring.Read more
Hit the east end on Thursday morning. Worked every damn spot from the embankment over to Douglas. Threw the whole tackle store at em. 2 dinks and a nice sun burn. Now I remember why I started fishing the Hook. The bite was non existent. I was very surprised.Read more
Hit the big lake this morning and had a terrible go of it. First time in a long time we've failed to catch anything. Tried many presentations to no avail. About 1:00 PM we loaded up and headed to Audubon. That was the ticket. Started off with a 19" eye and had a steady bite the rest of the afternoon. Mostly used slow death with crawlers, but switched to cranks at the end and still caught...Read more
Wife and I fished Friday east of Douglas bay and caught plenty of fish on jigs and crawlers in 20 fow. Lots of smaller fish the last two outings with a few 18 inch fish. Read more
Fished out in the rain today like a dumbass caught 6 smaller eaters in 18 to 22 feet with spinners not even a bite in the shallows. front must have pushed them deeper. Was in garrison bay.Read more
Fishing in the Arm was good - 17fow - off islands and shorelines - spinners were best with worms. Also had luck with spinner and minnow...about 60-40%. Had to move often - usually got a fish right after a move. Very slow fishing south if Van Hook...Read more
Nothing much to report 1 walleye. Only walleye caught was in 15 fow on a spinner. Found a ton of fish suspended in 40 feet of water about 20-30 feet down. Did not catch a single one of them though.
Decent day on Sunday at the hook 8-16ft crawlers and whatever you want to throw at em pretty much. Bite was better on Saturday compared to Sunday but sure can't complain as the fishing was easy. Get out there and get a limit if you have time. Water temp was 64ish in the arm. Fish were suspended in alota areas on Sunday. Fishing should just get better by the day if the weather stays ok.Read more
Picking up around Indian Hills area. Won't be long and it will be on like Donkey Kong on the east end.Read more
Docked at Wolf Creek yesterday and headed west to Douglass area. Had decent action when wind was blowing making a good mudline. Caught 14 but nothing of any big size. Kept 5 from 14-17". Pitched jigs with gulp shallow and trolled lindys in 9-12 FOW. Was a fun day. I noticed the water temp was 6 degrees cooler in Wolf Creek than it was in Douglass Bay.
