marke,

Yeah north is a good place to start. Ha ha on the screen moving comment! My brother works on the bridge and they've been pretty much shut down the past few days. Usually have well over 30 hours in by Wednesday but the winds have kept them to only about 14 according to my brother. Hope this isn't a sign of whats to come!

Any changes to the casino ramp?

Fish are north of 4 Bears Bridge I do know that. Makes for a long, ROUGH ride though with this NW wind. Why is this screen jumping up and down? Got to go to the dentist tommorrow!Read more

Stizo and very,

Thanks for the reports. 4-Bears sounds like what Reunion was last year. Almost a waste?

Harley said that Parshall Bay might be getting one. Knowing him (met him for the first time a couple weekends ago) he'll get it done. Quite the cat that guy!

Stizo,

Did you mention that smaller boats had done okay on the east end already?

The ramp at van hook is up and running. They have one double and one single ramp so far. I think you will need a 4 wheel drive because as of right now parking is pretty soft, but at least there is a ramp!Read more

Government Bay just outside of Riverdale has a usable ramp now too. The East End may be my next stop for eyes. Depends how long it takes these fish to come out of the spawn and post-spawn mode. The Pre-Summer period should be awesome on the East End this year. Stizo : )Read more

I heard Van Hook now has a usable boat ramp. Parshall Bay is petitioning for one also, but the paperwork takes one month to go through with the COE. Parshall MAY have one open in June. So what does that make it now...three boat ramps on Sakakawea? One at the Sakakawea State Park, one at 4 Bears, and one at Van Hook? I also heard that somebody dunked their truck in at the 4Bears Ramp.I...Read more

fished all day on the river. fished from $hithouse point all they way south toward bears den. fishing was awful. all the 4 of us caught were two little dinky walleye that wouldn't even measure 10 inches. it was slow for everyone that i talked to, i also think it is because of the spawn. all a guy can do is wait until the fishing picks up or somebody finds a way to catch some fish. talk to...Read more

I was given permission to fish today, but all I ended up doing was dragging jigs and a little hiking down by Bear Den. Toward the end of my walk the wind picked up really bad, and it made for a long rough ride back to the casino ramp. That ramp is STEEP. I had a little trouble launching and loading. I let go of that winch handle, and boy did I get a punch in the nose! It spun right around...Read more

Patsplace,

This stretch of Sakakawea is going to be busy simply because it has one of the few boat ramps in the area. I suspect that it had more traffic yesterday, and today. Tim pretty much summed it up. Put in at 4 Bears ramp and motor south until about a mile before Hunts Along Bay, and then just troll alond the shoreline and cast a jig and minnow into the shallows for walleye...Read more

getzer,

saw a 23lb slimer that came from Beulah bay the other day. was 46inch and fat. Fished renner on wed but only had one 4lb fish. lots of bites, would only take a foot of line and drop it, had to be on the ball and set the hook asap. we were the only ones there wed, but could see that alot of people have been fishing, was pretty windy, sound like they're biting on calm sunny...Read more

pat,

Over on the river you basically go along the shore and hit any spot you feel or have a feeling is worthy. Het the edges and points but remember to start checking into the mouth of bays and even further up in them. Soon, they'll be moving into warmer water.

As for the Arm, the boat ramp will be useable (if it isn't already). Also, check into seeing if Pouch Point is...Read more

We will be in the Four Bears area on May 7th to fish with a boat but have never fished the area...any tips? Flew over the area yesterday and thought of hitting the little bays/points south of the bridge on the west side of the lake. The Arm looked interesting with all the sunken (and now visible!) islands, but looked like way too far to go from the Four Bears boat ramp.Read more
